Splendid photos Wrassell. Is that bar shot from Bakersfield? Looks similar to a few bars I've seen there years ago and over the hill in Palmdale too. Hope you post more---your and Sa-teef's work keeps me coming back.

Superb photos.I still rue the day film died.People always ask what camera photos are taken with, but 90% of these effects are due to masterful post processing…which I can't do.Damn! Great job.

Nice work Wrassell. I keep trying to convince myself to bring my slr and shoot when im in patts but the distractions are overwhelming 55.

On your HDR's are you using three different exposures or pulling the different exposures from the raw?

Its not just post, composition and subjects are great.

Q: Would you feel stumped walking around shooting in Pattaya with only a 50mm?

Considering traffic and having to move to close to subjects (people)?

Im trying to figure out what to bring my next trip...

Feels like it would be cool to have a zoom up to 300mm.

Are there enough light at night being at F5?

Thanks, great shots!

I like my 24-70 f/2.8 for a walk around lens probably the one I use the most. I am getting to like my 17-40 lens more and more. Some people swear by the 50mm prime and I like them because they are light and not so intrusive and they are great for night time shooting. F5 at night in some places ok but at night I like my 50mil f1.4 and I can crop as needed

lots of times I do bracketed shots in RAW but only to get the right exposure, I shoot 3 exposures at one stop apart. I then take the best exposure and tone map that with NiK HDR Efex Pro..

Yes that bar is in Bakersfield and if you are looking for trouble this is the place to go. I don't really hang out there. I did like a place that reminds me a little of the Thai bars called Chuy's but still not good place if you have gotten used to Thailand. Actually lived in Lancaster for awhile Frank Zappa lived there too.

Some Thai fishing boats in for repairs and a paint job down in Baan Ampur.

Cambodian construction workers hitchin a ride home. They come to Thailand for higher pay, imagine. They work their asses off for next to nothing..

Again I just can't seem to stay away from these fishing boats down in Ban Ampur.

Excellent photos wrassell. Do you sell these on a stockphotos site. I bought some a while back for a brochure that were not even as good as yours.

Great photos. For those of us who know nothing about enhancing with software, could you show a before and after so we can get an idea of what you did?

Great photos. For those of us who know nothing about enhancing with software, could you show a before and after so we can get an idea of what you did?

I shoot in Raw format and the original images look pretty dull and lifeless, not anything I am proud of. Raw format is the image straight off the image sensor, most people shoot in JPG where the camera decides what post processing is to be done. I like to look at the images on screen and decide from there what post processing I Want. This allows me a lot of latitude on color balance, sharpness, and exposure after the fact. I also do a certain amount of compositing I may use different parts of different photos that I shoot and merge them into one. Often times I can been shooting just skies and sunsets these I can use in some of my other photos. I believe it is the finished image and how you got there that counts.

There is lots of videos on youtube that can help anyone that wants to learn this type of stuff. Most of it is experimentation trial and error but it can be a lot of fun. I love to drink beer and if I didn't have this I would be hittin the bars way too early.
