Recommended Posts

Hi all, anyone know a good place to stay in Ao Nang around 1200 baht a night in August.

Cheers :o

I have found accomodation there to be VERY expensive recently. Last time there I stayed one night in a very basic room for B1,500 then moved to Krabi Heritage hotel at B2,500 per night.

August is low season for Ao nang. Should be able to get some good deals if you just walk in. Budget accomodation available on the street that goes away from the beach, first on the left. Think name was JP guesthouse or something, mate of mine stayed there for 500B a night.

For 1200, should be plenty of nicer places around there as well, check out the resort behind ocean mart, forgot the name. Ocean as well perhaps..

Have just booked the new Aquamarine hotel you get a free night for every two nights yoy pay for. My 6 nights in August work out at under 6000bht in total. Trip Advisor etc rate it high.

I stayed at 3 different places in Ao nang in the last year.

Ananta Burin - expensive, but clean, great staff and nice pool (get a room with pool acces, you can swim directly from your balcony!) Quiet surroundings a bit from centerpoint, between ao nang beach and nopparat beach. Rates from about 2000 thb.

Pornthep Mansion - cheap guesthouse, but located quite off in north nopparat och have most thai people around. No pool and simple bathrooms, but clean and staff very friendly and familiar (they even run run the own tours). You probably want to rent a motorbike if staying here. I payed 600 thb/night.

Srisuksant Resort - Dont do it, don´t stay here! Dirty hotel, unfriendly staff and bad pool. No safebox in the rooms, they have in reception but you need to write done all things you put in there. There are also a lot of noise from the Luna Bar on the other side of the road (didn´t disturbe me, but might if you like to go to sleep before 4). Don´t remember the rates, but it was overpriced.

All of these hotels are GF and rates without breakfast (don´t eat).

It may be pushing the boat out a bit, but I'd HIGHLY recommend Centara Resort, Krabi (at Ao Nang). Probably the best place I've ever stayed at. You get a private bay, two beautiful swimming pools (1 with swim-up bar), outdoor jacuzzi, free kayak/catamaran hire, and fantastic food. Even though it's secluded, you can walk for about 5/10 mins and you'll be in the middle of Ao Nang.

Another friend stayed here and he also said it was the best place he'd stayed at...

Because of the way the hotel is situated, you could easily bring a girl in as you don't have to walk past front desk and they'd never know. But I don't think Ao Nang is really that kind of place?? I don't recall seeing any gogos or the like...

Anyone have any different experiences there?

There are a couple of main p4p areas in Ao Nang, both on the main drag. One of them is called Walking Street believe it or not. Pretty slim pickings but I have always ended up with a smile on my face when in Ao Nang

The beach in Ao Nang sucks ! It looks all right, but walk out 1/2 a mile and it's still 18"s deep. You've got to take a longtail 'round to Railay to get in some swimming. There's an alley of beer bars at the E end of town where the main drag takes a L. You should be able to pull a '7' outta there. There's a small complex right in the middle of town with 4 or 5 bars as well. In town I like the Ao Nang Villa. Great rooms, huge pool, & on the beach. I usually stay up the coast at the Sheraton and use up starpoints. There's a lot of cheaper joints on the same great beach I'd check out. (sorry, none come to mind) Here's some pics: 1st 2 - ANV & the 2nd 2 - Sheraton.
