23,000 to 25,000 Baht in April for the 8GB. I did find a white 1GB for 12,000. As far as I know, there is no warranty from the stores in LOS. Only the manufactures warranty would apply. I've been told they are about the equivalent of $1,000USD in Europe, but apparently you can find them online for about half that.

if your buying a nokia n95 brand new, you will get a years free warranty. as for the apple iphone (which i have), you won't get anything in terms of warranty if you buy second hand.

and if you do buy one, make sure it's got the latest update, 1.1.4. and when you sync your music directly from itunes to iphone, make sure you have automatic updates changed to Manuel.

I was in Mahboonkrong about a month ago looking for a phone. The Iphones were about B19,000 for the 8Gb and B21,000 for the 16Gb. I think the N95 was B23,000.

Drives me nuts when a guy asks for one thing and a poster says "forget that, try this"

iPhone or N95. That's the issue here:

You'll want to start with this, a head-to-head of the 3G iPhone, due out July 11, and the N95 8GB.

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/item/7...ne_3G_versu.php

Now, as for buying one?

The new 3G iPhone comes out July 11 and offers GPS and faster speeds. But there is no 3G in Thailand, other than a pilot program in Chang Mai. So if you can do without GPS and plan to use it only in Thailand, then get a 1st Gen iPhone, have it unlocked and jailbroken and enjoy. You'll get them at a great price. The 1st Gen iPhone will still run the 2.0 software just fine (the processors inside are the same.)

Before iPhone was abbout 25,000 here, but the prices are plummeting.

Also, if you do go 3G, be aware it will be some time before it's jailbroken. Applie is insisting the only way to activate it is in a mobile shop that sells you a contract. Vendors will have a tough time getting them in quantity because of that. Also, the 2.0 firmware is not yet out and not yet cracked. It took hackers about 7 weeks to break the initial 1.02 version.

N95 8GB is the flagship, but now that the N96 is out (avoid it!), prices are falling. The original N95 with the new firmware is arguably better for camera use and can be had very cheap. Also 16 GB microSD cards come out in Aug, so these can hold more stuff than the newer one with the fixed memory and no card slot. Battery life on original is not as good as 8GB, though.

Finally, the N95 was shrunk and all its features -- plus a better camera and flash -- were put in the N82, whichi is what I use and shoot alot of my blog pix with. Awesome phone.

Pattaya Ghost

Do not mean to drive you nuts.

I always try to add some and give more if I can.

Pattaya Ghost................. I think you drove your self crazy.................... In your own words ............ "STEP OUT OF THE BOX"

Moving on I hope you are ok in your box but then thats your shit & you know when you have lost the plot when your best mates knock you out in soi 8 ?????

So if I am allowed to push on with mobile phone advice I would also say take a good look at the Samsung U900.

Pattaya Ghost if I made a mistake with your ID apologise in advance. Some manners and class are still part of my quality & breeding.

Is the new iPhone a pure 3g phone, i mean usually they work on gsm where theres no 3g, or am i wrong?

In the N82 that you have, is it a better camera than in the N95? Looked at your website but dont know which pix you have been taken. 5 mpix should be pretty good yeah? But i like the N95 black design better.

Whats wrong with the N96? Many "baby-diseases"?

The 82 is a dream, particularly in low light. The xenon flash has a range of 2 meters and you can shoot a good picture in a completely dark room.

Very helpful as most of my pix are at night on the town.

The camera itself is identical to the N95. Same lens and processing unit.

Reading one Nokia blog today saying the 8GB N95 actually has an inferior camera to the original N95. It also lacks the mechanical lens cover the original did.

Finally, the N95 flash is crap. It's a simple LED with about a range of 2-3 feet.

All other features of N82 are the same: aGPS, S60 FP1, 30fps video, etc. Big differences are size, size of screen and keyboard. The keys look small, but actually are very usable.

Also, the candybar design is virtually indestructable. I my N82 off a moving motorbike on 3rd road, and when I picked i up it had 2-3 scratches, but worked perfectly otherwise. Try that with the N95 slider.....

pattaya ghost, i agree with everything you say regarding the phones. i've been fortunate to have both phones, and know what kind of problems the N95 had with it's first release. Battery issues for me were the major cause, after fully charging my N95 i found it wouldn't keep me going for very long. especially as i like to use HSPDA on the move.

my current phone is the Iphone 16GB which i will replace on 11th july with a 3G version as i use internet on the move.

but it all depends on what you'll be using the phone for.

  • 3 months later...

I use an iPhone 3G and I have to say I wouldn't want to be without it now!

I looked at loads of different phones before I decided on the iPhone, it does just about everything.

The only downside so far is that you cannot send multimedia messages, BUT you can email the picture instead. (although this is only any use if your mates have the facility)

Another VERY annoying thing is you cannot forward messages, people often send me jokes etc, but I am unable to forward them on anymore.

However the pro's ar far more than the cons in my opinion.

I decided on the iPhone for the internet access, as I travel to Spain regular, I can use Skype to ring the kids.

I use it on the move, colecting emails throughout the day, built in ipod, GPS, etc etc

Battery life has been improved with the release of the latest software.

I plan on using mine in Thailand, although not sure how much it is going to cost me to use the Wi-fi over there!! :o
