I am hoping we can have a sensible debate about this

It has been dissected over on Thai Visa and seems to stack up.

Relevant to under 50's, relevant to offshore workers who cannot report on time every time, even relevant to rich over 50's who have the funds and cannot be bothered to abide by the the requirements of a retirement visa

I am in no way endorsing this product - but due to the recent Immigration changes this is a possible solution to those who have the cash to join the scheme - and needs to be considered

It seems that NONE of the people who purchased the Elite Card last time - even though it was suspended lost their rights to stay

Yes

Well if you think thats worth doing at 1'900.000... i would rather leave than pay that amount to get the paperwork sorting out...

i can't think of anyone paying this out but i i've seen memberships for sale on bahtsold.

I would say its only a show of status and not an alternative.

500k is relevant to our discussion - 1900 baht is the annual fee to Immigration for the yearly renewal

It's pricey, 100K a year instead of 25K+ for a ED Visa but you don't have to bother with the language classes and you get some extras

Please read that again ;)

Roughly 23B a day for a multi entry visa for Cambodia.

I just read another post of 2 foreigners getting shot in Cambodia - bargain for 23 B :P

Thanks nixonsbest, I've found the page too, navigation on that site is horrible btw. http://www.thailandelite.com/newcreate/glimpse.php

I'll do some research about this and see what I can dig up online as I recall they had some problems in the past and people lost their money. But if it's legit I might be interested. 5 year hassle free visa and only 1 visa run per year (if i understood correctly) and a free Limousin in BKK :)

I can help you with the research as it seems you do not pay attention to detail

The previous scheme was suspended whilst an investigation took place by the new regime in charge

It was deemed that it would too much bad publicity and the Visas were honoured - certain benefits were downscaled like the Golf and a few other things

However no-one lost their Visa rights - this was confirmed by a couple of guys on Thai Visa who were connected to people that had bought the visas

Nobody lost any money and there were no problems.

Previously it was 1 000 000 baht and it was running at a loss, they wanted to close it down, but had to refund all the people.

So they did not close down but restructure it into what it is now.

There are no visa runs, just yearly extension and you do not need to leave the country.

Depending on where you reside, Elite staff can accompany to do the extension.

They can also assist with obtaining WP if needed and/or setting up a company.

I agree, until immigration decide to restrict the amount of time you have to be out of Thailand before you can re-enter on a 30 day visa free entry. I would not put it past them after the border changes to make airport entry their next target

At one point you will be ask to speak Thai or asked questions in Thai and if you can't answer they can turn you visa down. Or what ever it is your going to classes for.

I'm still struggling with their website, these white fonts hurt my eyes lol

Has anyone been able to figure out if the 500k has to be paid at once or 100k each year?

I looked into the ED visas but it's just to much hassle to sit in a classroom for 4 hours every week. So for 100K a year I'm defo interested in this Elite Visa
