Dental work in Bangkok or Pattaya?

While I'm in Thailand I want to get a cleaning and several fillings. Is there much difference between Bangkok and Pattaya when it comes to dental services? Or are cost and quality pretty much the same between the two places?

I would also like to hear something on this front. I just returned from a trip and was doing a bit of research on the issue. Pattaya appears to have good farang doctors but the only price comparisons I had made were vs the States (obviously cheaper in LOS). I ended up not having anything done as I found myself perpetually on the go with such a short vacation. I've also heard that mole removal and minor surgeries are safe options to have done in Pattaya. Is this also the case? Looking forward to any first hand feedback.

I'll probably also go to Chiang Mai, so really I'm wondering where I should get my dental work done out of the three places. There seems to be little interest in this thread. Is this because all three places are pretty much the same? or no one knows? or no one cares? Any informed response is appreciated.

I went to a pattaya dentist this week ...twice!

First trip was to repair a cracked composite veneer i had done in the uk. Very excellent job. So good, I went back for a clean and polish. Again outstanding - it was 1000 baht and an absolute disgrace what my uk (NHS) dentist allowed to build up on my teeth, considering the cash i've spent in his practice.

I have no comparisons against any other dentists in thailand, but this one was real good. It is in naklua, north pattaya. lady speaks excellent english too.

Chiang Mai has a well-respected Faculty of Dentistry and Dental Hospital at CM Uni - along with lots of well-priced, private Dental Clinics (operated by the same folk).  The same can be said of Hat Yai and, to a lesser extent, Khon Kaen.  I'm sure you'd get some good personal recommendations on a CM forum (or Thai Visa).

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated, keep them coming please! I'm probably going to spend more time in Chiang Mai than Patts or Bangkok so it might be marginally more convenient for me to get the work done there. If there is a difference in price or quality though that would be important to me.

Pattaya is on a different planet compared to the terrible (and costly) dentists we have in the UK.

    • Hi Guys

As many of you know we have been running now for 16 years and apart from one brief time when we were allowed PayPal, so could use the inbuilt donation function, we have tried to avoid asking for donations. We have certainly avoided being in anyones face about it.

      Sadly that has now changed.

The forum currently costs around $900 a month to operate. That includes Bangkok and Philippines but PA makes up the vast majority of it. This fee covers forum hosting, image hosting, notification emails and support.

Before anyone says "its expensive" please be aware we have tried for years to find better for cheaper - it just doesn't exist for the size we are. Also a lot of hosts wont Touch us anyway. Our current host is actually cheaper than the previous one but that brings its own problems.

      Moving on -

I would like to stress there is NO obligation whatsoever. Also, whatever happens the forum is going no-where!

Donators can CHOOSE to have their donation listed (probably in this thread or we can make a new one) or to remain anonymous. Likewise they can CHOOSE whether the amount is published or not.

There is no minimum, or maximum for that matter. ANY donation will be very gratefully received. We are very aware that many members are also having it tough these days.

We are still unable to promote/post PayPal addresses etc on the forum so would ask that anyone who would like to make a donation to PM me, or ask me here to PM you and we will sort out details via that PM.
