hi guys I know there are a few tailors around but has anyone made a suit before and any good or bad experiences? I looked online and AMAA fashion seems to have good reviews on the internet. its a bit far from Walking Street and my hotel though. any other suggestions?

Been buying from him for near ten years.  Always happy with the results.  Tell him what you want before you negotiate a price, he's not a tout but there is a limit to what anyone can do if you are looking to go real cheap.

I wear my suits daily, am on my feet and moving all the time in a smokey environment (casino).  I have some suits that are 9 years old and still in good shape.  His shirts are just as good.  I have some that are still like new after 4 years of weekly iron/starch.  My off the rack, US$300+ suits don't last as long.

Shirts are very nice but if you are from the USA and have access to TJ Max or whatever, the shirts are not such a good deal, even though they last longer.  Still nice to have a few custom shirts though.

Discuss the liner and all options you want up front.  Give yourself plenty of time to make changes, etc. before you go home.

If you are like me, and tend to fluctuate your weight, take that into consideration.  Gaining 5 pounds in an off the rack suit is not the same as gaining 5 pounds in one of his suits, it will get real snug unless you tell him to make it a bit looser fit.  On the contrary, if you are on the high side, have him make it snug or the reverse happens.

Yes, he owns the shop and measures, the suits are assembled someplace else and the final fittings are done by someone else.

Backround, he is Indian, but 1st generation born in Thailand.  He travels to the US and Europe takes orders from customers and ships suits.  He has been to the US and met me here for orders.  Not that it matters except to prove that he is not a tout or a conman.

Just to give you an idea, this years order was 7 suits and 5 shirts for about US$1100  I think the shirts ran about $30 and the suits about 130 give or take a few bucks.  I've been a regular customer for years so I'm not sure if this is normal or not for someone coming in off the street.

It's funny, I get whatever cut is in fashion (without going to extremes) and I can wear the exact same cut, but different color five days in a row.  One day I will get all sorts of compliments from the girls at work, telling me how great the suit fits and looks, the next, nothing....I guess, to a point, it's all about the ties and colors.  lol

Again, I wear my suits daily and they get abused.  When buying something for a special occasion,  you might want to spend more.  YMMV.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

Whenever I walk passed the shops in Patts and look in the windows I never see a suit I would be comfortable wearing in the City of London. They all look a bit odd to me.

Prano Soi 2 (beach rd end) - speak to Johnny. I've had 4-5 from there since 2006. the fact that he relies entirely on walk in trade without using the standard irritating street salesman speaks volumes for me

I know exactly what you mean.  In addition to the look being somewhat off, in many cases the fit is not right either.  Over the years, I have purchased a number of items from Pattaya tailors and just about everything has been shipped to the SO's village in Issan.  Now when I need decent clothes, I either go to Central, Bangkok or just order them from Brooks Brothers in the U.S.  Not a fan of the tailors in Pattaya.
