Kimbo Slice tonight/morning

Featured Replies

Kimbo slice, the guy that has been made famous from internet videos of backyard brawls is fighting tonight/morning at 9pm est. on cbs. He hasnt ever really fought anyone famous, but id just thought id let the board know that hes fighting today.

He fought Tank Abbott, and also got the crap beat out of him when he was a boxer by one of the Klitchko brothers.

That dude has the most wicked beard ever! He dropped weight recently too - down to around 220?

Ego and Alcohol

Kimbo won the fight.

I was very disappointed with the fight. The ref stopped the fight way, way too early. Kimbo ain't all that.

This was the first time that I saw him on his back taking elbows to the head. If the ref was going to stop the fight early, that was the time to do so.

Put Kimbo against any quality fighter and he won't stack up.

Kimbo's fights were great viewing, but he is in a different league now.

MMA has really become a professional fighter's game, gone are the days of pure street fighting. You need it all now, stand up, ground and pound, jiu jitsu...

The night's best fight was the ladies fight!

In my opinion, this new MMA "league" (I forgot it's name) doesn't compare to UFC or Pride.

Bty, Detroit beat the Penguins and lead the series 3-1. Looks like the Wings will win the cup!

Kimbo is fun to watch bit I agree, his skills as an MMA fighter are very limited-u know hes gonna punch/possible clinch and dirty boxing or IF by some luck it goes to the ground and he ends up in mount, hes gonna GNP..He has no submissions and questionable stamina..just a very hard pucher and street brawler..He got knocked the fuck out by a cop ,John "the cannon" Gannon who also fought in the UFC...Put him in there with the likes of Randy Coutoure, Rampage Jackson, Fedor, Crocop or Cheik Congo and he would be finished very quickly..

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction - "it was just the internet.." is not an excuse.

i do feel you are being a tad unfair the fight against john gannon he wasn't knocked the fuck out granted he lost but he had no mma experience,

since he has started ith mma he has changed his lifestyle and is training with the right people so lets see what will happens

granted he ain't gona beat rampage etc hes only had a few fights

A Thai girls arsehole is just like a 9 volt battery you know you shouldn't but sooner or later you will put your tounge in it

yeah, the fight of the night was the chicks. That fight league also stopped that other fight w/ lawler b/c he poked the dude in the eye. Way to long introductions through, but it was still pretty awesome to see mma on national television. I give kimbo credited for not giving up, he cam up in the third swinging.

The one thing i dont get, is why he didnt get his ear drained earlier. I wrestled in high school, and they would just cut it open, and wrap it up for a few days.

I kind of feel like this about Kimbo. He is just starting to learn true MMA now, with Bas Rutten training him and all. Regardless of what he learns, I think he is a one-sided fighter that fights more on instinct then technical skills. That being the case, as Roidfreak said, put him in the ring with any of the heavy handed true MMA skilled fighters, he would lose everytime. Tank Abbott was a true badass to watch when he first started, because nobody knew how to handle him, he wasn't your standard technical fighter either, he just used heavy hands and an iron jaw to win. As fighters progressed with their mastery of other styles, Tank started to lose every fight he had. I think the same can be said about Kimbo, he is the Pete McNeeley of MMA. He probably just wants that one fight with someone incredibly famous that will give him a seven figure payday win or lose, then he will be finished.

He has fought for too long relying on instinct, and he is not getting any younger. My money would say, he will have maybe a year or 2 in MMA before calling it quits.

As to the fight last night, Kimbo did rock Thompson in the second round, but Thompson came back and threw him a major beating, same thing happened in the 3rd round and they stopped the fight, they wanted Kimbo to win plain and simple. If it were UFC or Pride, they would've stopped the fight in the 2nd round and Thompson would've won, instead they waited for an opportune moment after they seen they were not going to get the result they wanted for the fight, which is a shame.

I think that MMA on network TV is the worst thing that can happen to the sport. They seemed to stop fights just prior to there being too much blood in my opinion, they are tailoring it to become a family style sporting event. That is not the nature of the sport, we have seen guys so bloodied, and barely able to stand, guys with broken limbs or extremeties continue to fight in such conditions and WIN. I think MMA isn't just a sport of skill, but of endurance, and mental strength, and heart. To see a guy get bloodied up, gasping to catch his second wind just after getting rocked, come out of nowhere and submit his opponent or throw a devastating array of blows that ends the fight abruptly, thats what fighting is all about.

Great post, I couldn't agree more.

I also felt that the other fight was stopped too early.

If this is what we can expect from seeing mma on national television, then forget about it, keep it on ppv.

Saw the fight in Montreal with GSP this APril and that was great.

I know a lot of people don't like to watch the ground game, but I love it.

Old style Brazilian Jiu Jitsu didn't have a time limit on the fight! I hate it when I see fighters on the ground trying to work something and then the ref stands them up to start again.

I am so glad too see others feel the same as I do about Kimbo. He's alot of hype, thats it. I don't hate the man, but he is been getting the glory that so many other fighters actually deserve. As for Elite XC, I feel the organzation is a joke and it makes MMA look like that WWE shit.
