The Venue: Queen Victoria Inn, Soi 6.

 

Pros: Fantastic food down in the restaurant. Reasonable prices too. Pints of Strongbow, BULMERS

Free Pool/Billiards in the pub.

Good prices on the rooms, booked in a Deluxe for first 6 days, Jasmine Suite for final 4. See Queen Vic website for details.

Room is very spacious, bed is huge, bathroom is functional.

Vic, the owner, is a genuinely good guy. Had a few drinks with him and heard some great stories. Guy knows his shit and runs a tight ship.

Airport pickup was prompt, professional, van was huge and nicely air conditioned.

No joiner, good night security staff.

Pretty waitresses, very friendly.

Room had big screen LCD TV with dvd player, wall safe, laptop cable locking point, fridge (not stocked), fresh water every day, free coffee/tea.

Free WiFi.

Good AC

Its on soi 6 so nookie is literally only feet away.

Balcony overlooking Soi 6.

 

Cons:

No hotel service besides daily maid service. This is not a hotel.

No lift

Living on Soi 6 is a bit intimidating at times.

Bar closes at 12, so must use rear entrance to get into hotel, which requires going down 6/1 which has tons of LB's (entering on the 2nd road side of the street helps with this issue)

Balcony overlooks Soi 6, so be prepared to be molested if you are just hanging out.

 

Verdict: Highly recommended if you are OK without all of the hotel pampering and the location.

 

Extra: Jasmine Suite:

 

Pros:

Huge Bed, fridge, microwave, HUGE TV with DVD and surround sound.

Great AC and 2 ceiling fans

Huge jacuzzi with smaller tv.

Maids took out my laundry when I left it in the hamper and had it done at a local place, which only charged me 135 baht for over 14 items. Compare this to my bangkok hotel which wants to charge me 100 baht for a single t-shirt. Give them a few tips if you stay there and they are your friends for life (or until you leave)

 

Cons:

No alarm clock.

Jacuzzi takes a LONG time to fill up, 30-40 minutes, and the water does not stay very warm. 10 minutes in the bath gets a bit tepid. Also, it automatically stops filling a little below what would be optimal.

It is on the top floor, so expect a bit of a climb.

Bathroom develops kind of a bad smell. I suspect the pipes are not vented correctly, but I could be wrong here. It goes away if you run the water down the drains a bit but comes back in a day or two.

 

 

Thats about it. I really enjoyed my stay there and will probably stay there again during my next trip. I highly recommend it over similar smaller hotels, and the price is extremely competitive.

Stayed at the QV twice. This review sums it up perfectly. Great job. Overall a very nice place. And not near as noisy at night as one might expect from the area.

 

And they have completely finished the remodel so all the rooms are brand-spanking new--a big plus.

I normally stay in Soi 13 at Sandy Spring but getting a bit sick of the place and looking for somewhere new, sounds good as I like to be near the action end of town.

I throughly enjoyed the hotel and room was excellent value for money. Its location is in the middle of the action, sitting inside the queen vic you would never know you where on a street like soi six.

 

Vic and his staff where always helpful.. had a drink with Vic a few times and he's a good guy.

 

The Queen Vic is also excellent for meeting up with fellow mongers, i met some great guys there as well.

 

Looking at going back soon and will go to the vic again.

The day before you arrived I left for CHiang Mai with a mate. I drove 3200 KMs in 6 days, I'm a cabby so that week was a bit of a busmans holiday. Had a great time, as always. Did you get molested leaning out from your balcony at the Queen Vic lol?

yes got molested most times but loved every minute, had a laugh with the girls and never had a problem at all on soi six or as my friends called it soi half a dozen.

I stayed in Queen Vic last year in August an it is a nice, clean place with really afforodable prices. I'll stay again there on my next trip to Patts. I took a photo of some BG's getting ready for their shift

I stayed there in April and my room had an alarm clock.

 

Also, you can enter or exit on Soi 6/1 and avoid the Soi 6 gauntlet if you would like to do so.

I wanted to stay at the Queen Vic last trip but they were booked up. I did eat there and drink there a couple times though. Nice place. I felt like I left LOS and went to England.

Did they fix the wifi at the Queen Vic yet? The last time I stayed there it was a shambles (the wifi). The only dampener on my trip. Climbing up all those stairs really kept me in shape too!

I never had a problem with the wifi there, though I heard others did. I wonder if that was due to my flagrant abuse of the network (always online trafficking about 20 different sites).

This is a great hotel for people on a budget. You can get rooms for as little as 500b, and get free internet connection.

The only problem i had with the place was the walls, ohh there too thin.

I had done my mile that day and early evening. woke up at 1.00 am

to her the guy next door with the fetish.

 

Yeah each to there own, but farkkkk. this was into stuff i didnt feel like hearing.

He was into being whiped with a cote hanger and then crying like a baby ect then turn aggressive and make hes thai lady cry, with a beating ect.

Turned the tv up loud, when i thought it had finished turned off the loud tv

then again spank me again mommy again.

The walls are too thin, then came the realisation they herd me and all my devious behaviour.

 

Thats my only con

will be staying there in november in on of their De luxe room.

I also considered the Queen Vic, as staying on Soi 6 can be quite trying on days after! The rear entrance, though, is a plus. I don't care for the hiking up floors without a "lift" (translation: EL-a-VAY-tor!), so I completely understand that peeve.

 

But, I think the place is a definite short-lister, for the future. Thanks for the review!

one thing i forgot to say is that they responsed my emails within minutes. Great speed of service.

Staying on Soi Six is the best! Definitely recommend it especially for a newbie. You won't know what hit you.
