Just wondering if anyone has stayed in both...and which one they recommend? Dream is a little more expensive, about 600 baht compared to the Citi w/ balcony...the money is not really any issue. Just wondering which room is nicer...as they both look nice.

I have only stayed in the Citichic, which is highly recommended, but have heard good things about Dream...Why not stay in Dream and do a report?..Would be much appreciated. Wherever you stay, have a great trip.

I've stayed in both. The standard rooms at the Dream are a bit smaller than the balcony rooms at the CitiChic; otherwise they are roughly equivalent. The bedding and furnishings in the Dream rooms may be somewhat more upscale than CitiChic, but no huge difference. The Dream rooms have an optional (you can turn it off) blue neon lighting that is cooler than it sounds and the girls love it. The Dream has an expensive but very chic bar and a wonderful restaurant. It also has a much more impressive lobby, if that makes a difference to you.

 

In short, both are nice hotels. The CitiChic rooms are more spacious that the cheapest rooms at the Dream, so CitiChic offers better value for money. However, Dream has an upscale chic factor that would be worth 600 baht/night to many people. As always, up to you, but you can't go wrong in either hotel.

Thanks evil and alley...appreciate the feedback. I personally don't really care about the chic factor - but am meeting up with a girl while I am in Bangkok and am thinking she might appreciate the "chic factor" lol. Anything that helps me get her to the bedroom I will take!

CitiChic is a quality hotel.

just got back from bkk and stayed in le fenix, had a smoking room that i think is smaller than a non smoking. very clean but you would expect that from a fairly new hotel. i got the rate at 1800 for the night, slept in and got charged an extra 400 but thats no biggy as it actually said 50% charge for over stay.

 

all in all if you can get the cheap rates you cant complain, i know i have stayed in a hell of a lot more worse places for more money.

 

next time i'll try citi chic just to compare

Thanks for that spanky. I finally heard back from dream and I ended up being able to get one of the suites for a preety resonable price of 3800 so I am probably going to book that. I am not staying long so the extra 150 usd that it is costing me total I figured why not!?

I've stayed at both CityChic and Dream a few times.

 

Dream: Very cool hotel with a Philip Stark sort of feel. The lobby furnishings are modern whimsical. The staff are all attractive, wear black, and are about the most friendly I've ever met. The rooms are small but nicely appointed. They are all white but have indirect blue lighting from under the bed and in the recessed ceiling which gives a really nice feel to the place and is a good first impression. They have 40 inch flat screen TVs on the wall, dvd player, and a nice sound system that is iPod compatible. If you don't have an iPod they will provide one.

 

The second night of my first stay was my birthday. They sent up a really nice chocolate torte with a birthday card ... which my gf for the night really appreciated. I had to leave very early--before breakfast opened--to catch a flight. So, without asking, they prepared a sack-breakfast for me to eat in the taxi. That kind of customer service sticks with you.

 

CitiChic: It's a very nice new hotel. It is boutique in design but but very livable (i.e. not Philip Stark). The lobby is simple but tastful. The staff are nice and helpful. It's a smaller hotel than Dream and feels like it. The restaurant was not all the great but not bad. The rooms were very comfortable--quality fixtures and linens and a bit larger than Dream rooms. One nice touch was a sliding wall between the large bathtub and the sleeping area. You and your friend could sit in the tub and watch TV .... or you could just watch her bath. They also have a large flat screen on the wall and if I remember right, a dvd player. CityChic is one block from Bed Supper Club and 2 blocks from Q Bar. However, it is a bit of a walk to Sukhumvit.

 

I like both but for the money I would stay at CityChic. It's less expensive and in my opinion a bit more relaxing. If you want to impress a girl then Dream would be a better choice.

 

You may want to check out S15 Hotel (www.s15hotel.com). It's also a very nice boutique hotel, similar in quality to CityChic but is located right on the corner of Soi 15 and Sukhumvit -- a location that is hard to beat. It's a very new hotel; the staff was friendly but it was clear they're still learning. I was upgraded to a junior suite which was very nice and very large. It also had the big flat screen, dvd player, very nice furnishings, comfortable bed, quality linens, etc. I can't comment on the regular rooms. The price was 3200 bt ++. That is probably where I will stay next time.

Thanks for the report Mark. It`s much appreciated. Now we know a little bit more about these two places and I have some more choices where to stay next time. Le Fenix looks also like a fair good place to stay.

I normally stay either at the Dynasty Inn grande or the the Majestic Grande when in Bangkok because I like to walk to and from NEP however my last two stays I end up in Soi Cowbo.y So both The Dream and the S15 hotel's look like good alternatives .

Yes it is but for the price they were charging I would look elsewhere.
