Having stayed at the Dynasty Inn Grande (DIG) a few times in the past, I thought that I would try the Adelphi Suites (AS) on my most recent trip. (I returned earlier this month.) The two hotels are very similar in terms of their target market. Both have big rooms, big beds, big tvs, in-room safes (a must for me), hairdryers, etc. The both have swimming pools and Gyms on site.

The DIG is closer to Nana but only by a couple of minutes walk.

The AS has free internet access in the lobby for guests. At the DIG you have to pay. (I always used the internet place next door to the DIG which was much cheaper) The DIG also has a sort of ok computer for hire at 400 baht per day. But no hire computers at the AS.

At the AS, a good buffet breakfast is included. At the DIG, no breakfast is included. One thing I did discover about the AS is that if you want to treat your guest to a free breakfast the next morning then she (or he) has to sign a registration card at reception before getting a breakfast voucher.

The DIG has a long-running special hotel offer which includes free travel to Pattaya - but only if you stay at one of its sister hotels in Pattaya. No such deal at the AS.

The DIG's restaurant seems to cater for North American and westernised Thai tastes. I tried it a few times on my first trip and it was good but not spectacular. The AS's Brasilian restaurant I have not sampled. (I prefer Thai food when in Thailand.)

The AS gym is smaller that the DIG gym but it does have proper bikes - unlike the DIG - and all the equipment for a proper workout.

The AS decor is definitely superior to that of the DIG - in my opinion. But I never had any complaints about the decor at the DIG. Also, the AS is a much newer hotel (open about six of seven months, I believe) so one would expect it to at least be on a par with its competitor.

The AS has facilities for cooking in the room - if one is so inclined. There is also a microwave. No such facilities at the DIG.

The prices at the AS are a bit higher than the DIG. But the AS does offer weekly discounts.

No problems bringing guests back to the rooms at either hotel.

The air conditioning system is better at the AS which suits me personally as my nose and the DIG's a/c don't seem to get on too well together.

I have never had a problem getting a room at the DIG. But the AS does get fully booked on a regular basis. My advice is to book well in advance for the AS - especially if you're planning to stay there on a weekend.

Finally, here are links to the two hotels websites:

Thanks for report I found it very informative. Funnily I have stayed at DIG & although i enjoyed it found it to lacking in atmosphere. I had planned on trying the AS when next thru bangkok & will do so for sure. At the DIG I had one of the larger rooms, I have looked at the AS website & was wondering which room type you took at there.

I tried to book at Adelphi in August and it was sold out on Agoda.com so I booked at Majestic suites instead... perhaps next time though....

Eat. Down. South.

Looks like they only offer a discounted rate on monthly rates now. Works out to be about 1450 baht a night.

Hi Harve

I stayed in a Studio room for four nights. I was so comfortable there that I wanted to stay longer but the hotel was fully booked so I transferred back to the dependable DIG.

Hi Payoff

Assuming that you are talking about AS, I was offered a weekly discount after I made an 8 day reservation from the AS website for July. Maybe, if you emailed reservations from the AS website you could get a weekly discount. Or maybe the hotel is so popular now that weekly discounts are a thing of the past.
