Question about Penalties

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not a big football fan--always enjoy the World Cup but not really a club fan.

My question--has there even been any serious discussion of getting rid of penalties to decide the winner. I always thought the two best choices would be play until a winner--no matter how long it takes, or do corners---one each and then first to score.

any info?

thanks

there been a serious discussion about get rid of penalties to decide the winner and the conclusion was that penalties is the best way to decide the winner.

play until a winner--no matter how long it takes

they play 120 minutes long then that the players will die on the field or just cant keep on play.

also the corners is not good idea, again it can be a situation that the teams dont score and keep on play until they cant continue to play.

so we stay with the penalties.

there was a even brutal thing then penalties its call the golden goal but no anymore.

you can read about golden goal here.

i think a better option would be the team that as had the most corners, therefore the team that as try to win the game takes the cup.

Co'mon... sometimes a team plays shite but got loads of corners, especially if they got a few in a row because the defense always heads them out again... its the same with possesion and other stats... they don't tell too much about how a match went.

large sig = small penis

The usual time to start off with any changes to the rules of the game is normally at an event like the World Cup or European Championships and there's nothing new happening this summer. The golden goal thing was just cruel and didn't necessarily reward the best team. The corners suggestion is also impractical for the same reason. If there was a better way to do it the boys at FIFA and UEFA would have tried it by now. Anyway, I like penalty shooouts, look at how exciting the Champions League Final was this season.

May be after 90minutes each team manager should withdraw say three players.

Then play extra time, sure with fewer players the pitch will seem so much bigger,

so more space for teams to go forward and score.

This would a true scale of how good the manager is,i mean who would you take off,

would you keep your defence together all go all out to score?

Did you ever feel that just by jumping on a plane, All your cares would drop away

there be a opposite idea that some manager wants.

the idea is that after the 90 minutes both teams can replace more 2 players then the normal 3.

that way with 2 more fresh players it can be more possibility to win the game without penalties.

sorry timorno i disagree on that one,ia,m a great beliver in stats,if a team as 75% of the play i can,t see the other team getting more corners.
