Jomtien - getting there from Beach Road?

Hi guys, 

 

On my next trip I would like to visit Jomtien during the day. Is there any baht buses going, or do I need to take a cab? Perhaps a regular bus operating?

The buses that goes to Jomtien are located at the second road side of Walking Street entrance .. Their will be a line of them and their will be people waiting inside of the end bus waiting for it to get full . U just get in the half full bus. 20 bt to Jomtien . Run 24/7

it's 20 bt from the beach road of Jomtien to WS area. Even the Thais pay 20 bt .

They leave from outside the school on the corner of pattaya south road and thappaya road (this is the extension of second road, heading south)

From the WS arch, follow the beach road traffic up towards second road, stay on the right side of the road. When you get to the traffic lights look across the road (thappaya rd) to the right, you will see the baht bus queue

When I am going to Soi 5 on beach road from Pattaya than I pay 10bt.

I guess if you are going as far as Chaiyphruek road than you could give the driver 20bt.

the fare is 10 bht each way, but if you are coming back to pattaya from jomtien and go past the lights at south pattaya rd/second road they want more.

here are where the baht buses line up to begin their journey towards jomtien from south pattaya.

right near the traffic lights and beside the school. when they fill and have approx 12 seated and 2 standing on the back off they go.

they fill most times pretty quickly

you will note they all have the white stripe on the side, they are the only ones allowed to ply for trade on that route.

if coming back to pattaya in the evening beware the traffic coming into town can be murder so make sure you do not need a piss when you climb on !!!

My tip is dont stand on the back even if they try to make you.  It can get as bumpy as buggery and they get some speed up.  If you get bounced off at 60kmph there is a very high likelihood of a dozen or more vehicles taking you out.

 

Also, smile at the Russkies and see if you can get one to smile back. It's never been achieved before.

If you hand them 20 baht they are going to keep it.

but the fare is 10 bht.

i have a mate who stays in soi 16 which is way down, past the second police box at chaiyphruek rd and i will give the guy 20 bht if he goes  near that junction, or i get off and walk when the last other passenger exits the bus.

but if it's soi 5 for immigration 10 bht for sure

Even faster than waiting for a baht bus to fill before departing, walk 1 block toward Jomtien and wait in front of the eyeglass shop.Many with empty seats that did not queue will be by one after another.Plus ,during your 30 second wait,you can gawk at the lovelies inside.

from Jomtien Wat Bun Road to Central Mall is only 10 baht ..

In all seriousness I'm very surprise by this. I thought for sure 100% it was 20bt . I use to stay at view talay villa a lot at the end of soi 5-6 ( can't remember soi number ) and every body I saw then gave 20 bt .. Yes . Even the Thai. From Jomtien - WS

 

Next time I'm

Going to Jomtien I'll ask the locals about the pricing.. Just to confirm...

From reading, I know the baht bus starts at South Pattaya Rd near 2nd Rd, then travels to Jomtien. Now for the return from Jomtien back to Pattaya, what route do the baht bus take ? Does it make it's last stop where it started from, Near entrance of WS on Sourh Pattaya Rd or does it goes all the way in Pattaya on 2nd rd? Just curious as depending on route back I could just take it all the way back to near my hotel, near Soi Buhkow and Central Pattaya Rd.

Also I'm guessing its 20b and not 10b from Jomtien back to near my hotel location? Thanks

coming back they do the second rd beach rd round route then back on the jomtien rank, unless they pick up a private in route . jomtien to central 10bht never asked for more .but not a ruski and know the score here.

up to the driver , some go as far as soi wat boon then want extra to go further if only a couple on board.others try and turn at chiapuck. Its a long way to the end of jomtien beach road a bloody good walk.

So when it comes to looking for somewhere to stay and have easy use of baht bus, I'd be fine up to Soi 10, maybe OK up to Soi 14, and will need to negotiate the fare if any further?
