Tourist Visa to Thailand from U.K

Hi folks

Had anybody used the London Branch of the Thailand Visa Consulate on Queens Gate Road?

I normally send off for a visa to Hull but there turnaround times are a lot longer than usual. My last visa I had to wait 2 weeks and I have known people that have waited much longer.

I was thinking to drop off my visa to the London Branch then pick it up the next day. Has anybody done this?

Regards

Frankie

yes.

last time was end of feb 2014.

take 2 passport photos collect a blue ticket on entry, (down a set of steps in the basement), fill in the application form,  wait your turn and pay cash £25.00 (at window 2)  and upwards depending on number of entries. opens 08 30 to 12 30 but i don't think they let anyone in after 12 00 hrs.

collection is next day only between 11 00 and 12 00 hrs, no need to take a ticket this time only the receipt they gave you in exchange for your passport the day before.

neither day caused me much of a wait

nearest tube is gloucester road.

exit the station towards your left, cromwell rd is at the lights 20 yards away.

turn right along cromwell rd and left at the next set of lights which is Queens gate rd.

Thai consulate comes up on your left hand side about 200 yards down the rd

what else?

there is a toilet there if you need one.

you do not have to show you have bought an airline ticket.

you have to land in LOS  within 90 days of the visa being issued.

a single entry £25.00 visa will then give you 59 nights /60 days  in Thailand which can be extended at an immigration office at say jomtien for 1,900 baht for up to another 30 days

if you do not know where you are going to stay the first night just put somewhere like the Hilton beach rd pattaya. they don't care they only want that bit of the form completed, and your visa fee which is of course non-refundable !

Gents,

It may also been of intrest to know that Hull are no longer returning visas by post, you would have to collect in person or arrange a named "agent" to collect ie a local mate or courier.

In the case of an courier this will obviously add to the cost, but turn around time may still be quicker than London? (Hull took 4 days after I sent application in)

cheers,

I believe, all consulates in the UK as of 15th Jan 2014, only accept applications in person.  Mail in applications need to go to the London Embassy (unless you use some sort of agent/courier but I'm not familiar with this as I went in person to Liverpool for a Triple TR in March this year).

I'm sure all the Consulates have websites and phone numbers, and I would recommend calling them as I've found them very helpful (Liverpool Consul at least).
