Someone posted in a thread a while ago that the policy for visa extensions had changed. It was stated that immigration will now only grant up to 7 days on any visa. Does anyone know anything about this?

One Year Visa Extension

Getting a long stay Thailand visa

When an alien applies for a non-immigrant visa "code B" , to stay in the country 90 days or less, and would like to apply for an extension or an alien applies for a non-immigrant visa "code B-A" , to stay over 90 days, he/she will need to submit the following:

1. Application Form T.M. 7 (for extension of an alien who enters the Kingdom for not more than 90 days). Example, see below.

2. A copy of the passport (main page, visa page, entry stamp page) or substitute document.

3. One 4 x 6 cm. color photo

4. 500 baht fee is required for an extension of 90 days or less.

5. A recommendation letter from the company showing the positions of the applicant as well as the position of all foreigners working in the company and for what reasons these aliens must be employed.

6. Work permit or the receipt showing the alien has applied for such a permit from the Ministry of labour and Social welfare.

7. The alien's personal tax details including: balance, profit and loss, entity income tax, Vat records for the past year.

8. Certificate of entity registration, company registration certificate of limited company or commercial registration or VAT registration and list of partnerships.

9. Export companies must submit document of export transactions, i.e. bank or company transactions.

10. The officials reserve the right to require more documentation for further investigation to verify the companys viability.

I think he is talking about the standard short term extension i.e. to remove the need for a Visa Run if you just need a few days.

many guys come for a "month" and sometimes a month is 31 days so they need the ST extension. Or they come for 4 weeks and then just cant face the airport trip so reschedule flights home for a few days later etc etc.

Scumbag - I am pretty sure it is 7 days, but then again I thought it always had been.

Here is he correct information

Applying for an extension of a tourist visa

Duration of first permit :

Upon entering the country, as warranted by a tourist visa, permission will be granted for 60 days.

Duration of extension :

Normally, if the applicant wants to continue touring the country, an extension may be granted for not more than 30 days unless there are extenuating circumstances that would entitle the alien to a one year extension. Fee 1,900 baht.

Additional extension:

Normally, the Immigration will extend your Tourist visa once again for an additional 10 days. Fee 1,900 baht.

Note:

Note that nationals of Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, Togo and Uganda may only extend for a further seven days.

You are absolutely correct about what this thread is about. It doesn't affect me as I have a 1 year non-immigrant multiple entry visa already. However, many guys go to Pattaya and plan on getting an extension while they are there. In the past a 30 extension was possible on a 60 tourist visa. That is what I am referring to. I guess I should have highlighted the 'any visa' bit in the OP.... :What:
