flying from heathrow ..are they any good or do I avoid ?? thanks any info

Have used Jet many times.

Its not their fault but transiting BOM or DEL can be a nightmare, BOM especially, security/army carry guns, best not to kick off at l.o.n.g. waiting times to clear them.

Etihad can be laborious, buy you probably won't miss your connection even if you are late arriving.

Am going with China Southern next time, and wonder what kind of experience i can expect - any info?

To the OP AVOID Jet if you can.

I was very impressed with Jet but I always flew business class for work so my advice might not be of any use ,,,but the planes were newish and service was awesome, much better than BA business class

As previous poster said Indian airports don't run like clock work so might have issues on the transfer. Would be interested to hear how you get on as I might fly via Mumbai next time as I got mates over there to visit

Jet is a good airline. And if you book the trip through from London to BKK then both legs are on the same ticket which means that if you're delayed they will wait or you will get on the next one. Also, BOM is not as bad as it often sounds, been through check-in, imigration and security in less than 30 min several times. But if it's very busy there can be very(!) long cues, like in most airports... But again, if you're only transiting and don't even change the airline then that won't come into play since you're only changing gates airside.

edit: yes, good service and pretty good food. Only didn't like their shor-haul/national planes, they seem to have the smalles legroom I've ever experienced. But long-haul planes are ok.

not sure what that's suppose to qualify as security personell (army, police) is carrying guns in many if not most countries' airports, even UK.

I usually go for the cheapest, so I've not used them for a couple of years.

However, I always found the London-Mumbai leg very comfortable - "palatial" is probably the best word.

The Mumbai-Bangkok leg was less comfortable - smaller aircraft, smaller seats and very full.

I'd use them again.

Not to be confrontational, but i spent over an hour shuffling in a transit queue to get to the scanners, while other pax were being given priority, it can on occassion be nothing short of a melee.

To qualify the comment above, the guy indicating which scanner to go to was wearing a pistol, and you won't see that in the UK.

Also don't lose the tag for your hand baggage, if you do, go back get it scanned and tagged, otherwise you will have problems at the gate.

yes, Indians do not have any queuing culture. This can get me very frustrated, too.

Fair enough, armed scanner pointer guy is unusual. But then at least they wear their arms openly whereas outside the terminal every other person (intentional exaggeration) carries as well, just hidden...

I think this is very important to point out for anyone going through Indian airports. Always keep an eye on your hand-luggage-tag as they do send you back to check-in to get one or to security for re-screening.

Used them last October no problems. Everything went smoothly, added bonus you can take 28Kgs of hold luggage as well as 7 Kg cabin. There is a new airport opened in Mumbai now, just missed that one, the old one was quite interesting, do as in Thailand just relax and watch everything happen. Very entertaining. Duty free was very cheap got one and half litre of Smirnoff for just over £10 used debit card priced in $ and ended up as £10.40. Take some Rupees for coffee etc. I only had sterling and managed to get a coffee for £2.00 coin which caused a bit of amusement with the guy in the café and his 6 little helpers. Will use them again.

The Soi 6 sniffer guy on here swears by them he says.......Delhi for transit is better than Mumbai though

Jet Airlines is one of the Best in India, excellent on time and great service in my opinion.

Has anyone flew London to Bangkok leg recently? How was the flight?

Jet is coming out the cheapest for my flight.

Jet Airways' planes are fine, the in-flight service has declined & the food's OK (if you like curry), Hold-luggage is 30 kgs & carry-on 7 kgs, the prices are good.

BOM/Mumbai security is a hassle, but the new terminal has just finally opened, so things should be as good as DEL/Delhi now.

BOM/DEL-BKK flights are on a B737 full of holiday-makers, a bit like a charter-airline in the package-holiday days, it can actually be quite a fun atmosphere !

Long-haul on the B777-300s is better, but they've moved from 3-3-3 to 3-4-3 configuration now, so it is more cramped than previously.

I fly BKK-LHR-BKK two-three times a year, and have done for three years now, give it a try & save a couple-of-hundred-quid for better things !

I had a pleasant flight with Jet Airways. Specially the LHR - BOM leg was comfortable (except for the Indian family with screaming children). I had a very attractive (Bollywood star looking) stewardess keeping my glass full with double Rum/Cokes and tugging me in when I took a nap :)

Flown with them once. Will never fly with them again due to the chaos that is Mumbai airport. Flew back thorough Delhi which was better but in both I felt as though I had to jump through hoops just to get a connection

The judge has spoken and passed judgement

Yes, Mumbai Airport (BOM) is a nightmare. But there is a 24 hour bar (expensive) with some cool bartenders who let you bring your own drinks from Duty Free (cheap), just make sure you tip them ;)

LON-BKK-LON 2 years ago flight good food OK.

Same flights March this year total disaster food worst I have ever had in over 200 flights,

Leg room has been reduced(extra 2 rows on same type plane),cabin air pressure and

temperature very high.

Will never fly with them again although Mumbai airport has improved.

Just got home from BKK-BOM-LHR-DEL-BKK, the new Terminal in Mumbai/BOM is now open & as-good-as Delhi/DEL's T-3, although security remains the same system.

Jet Airways flight from BKK still parked at a remote stand, we were bussed to the entrance-door for Arrivals/Transfers, unlike arrivals at DEL from London on the B777-300s, which use a gate and airbridge (cooler in monsoon heat !).

Oh, and prices at Duty-Free, in the new terminal, seemed much higher than previously, so I didn't buy.

The final flight into BKK was only about two-thirds full, perhaps due to the coup, putting some tourists off ?
