I have been visiting Pattaya since 1992 and just love the place. And one day I plan to live in Pattaya. I will be 50 in August and within the next couple of years I might be able to retire early and get my pension. So hopefully it won't be long now before I will be able to move out.

Anyway on Saturday 24th September 2005 just one month after my 47th birthday I had a heart attack. Even though I knew I had high blood pressure my heart attack still came as a BIG shock :Crappy: . Blood pressure aside I was always felt healthy and fit.

After my heart attack my blood pressure became normal but it has recently gone up again. So I am on 5 tablets a day for my heart and 1 tablet a day which has brought my blood pressure back down to normal.

In the UK I have a 12 monthly pre-payment Certificate. The current certificate cost me about £87.

So living in the UK the tablets don't cost me much.

I am worried that when times come for me to move out to Pattaya I'll have to buy my tablets in Thailand. And that could prove expensive.

Since my heart attack I have felt great. In fact 12 weeks after my heart attack I flew out to Thailand and spent my first ever christmas and new year in Pattaya. And I was getting plenty off exercise in the bed room. A young Thai lady called Kan took very good care off me :P I will aways be grateful to Kan for looking after me.

Anyway can anybody give me advice about my tablets. So that they don't put a dent into my money

You might want to speak to a doctor about this or speak to your local chemist who can check of the availability of your medication in LOS. I wouldnt mess around with this kind of stuff.

I would agree go to a doctor here and ask his advise even if you are able to get your medication at a reasonable cost you should still be monitored by a doctor.

There is a large pharmacy in Pattaya with a website www.fascino.co.th unfortunately it is in Thai although you may be able to send them an email to ask the cost they also have a discount card you can get from them which gives if I remember correctly 5% off.

Hope this helps and you stay well

All the best

Hi Bitch Controller tablets is something I also don't want to mess about with. I was just wondering if there were any ex-pats living in Pattaya who have also got a heart problem. And I was wondering what they do concerning tablets. I presume these expats have got health care in Thailand with BUPA or somebody similar and could tell me about the doctors in Pattaya. And tell me how they get there tablets. And how much the tablets cost in Pharmacy's in the LOS.

I should imagine it'll be about 2 years before I start thinking seriously about moving to Thailand. Before then I will be talking to my own doctor for advice. I might also call into a BUPA office in Thailand during a vacation and talk about health care in Thailand

Medicines are cheap here in Thailand and most are readily available.

I am supposed to be taking enapril or anapril but I don't and they cost around 2 baht each.

Hello,

My name is Kal, i am in pharmacy business and i am in Pattaya almost 6 months a year. My next trip is after 3 weeks, If you are there hit me an email and we can discuss topic about your pills. I can offer you huge discounts on pills made in Europe, and even if you want we can combine it with "herbal vitamin V" i believe that 87 pounds are pretty enough per month.Believe me if you can have fun in bed, your previous heart attack have not been serious, may be by accident or not real heart attack the biggest test if SEX, if you can perform it now, there is no place for worry, most people even can't climb 3 steps.

Kind regards,

Kal

From a US Medical doc:

It will make a difference if your pills are generic or not as generics are more readily available in developing countries and obviously cheaper. You should also make sure that you buy from a reputable pharmacy. Thus is not as big a deal in Thailand as it would be in places like Africa where counterfeit drugs are very common. Counterfeiters can be very talented in reproducing packaging and making the pills look exactly like the original so they are hard to tell apart. Your only solution is to make sure you choose a major pharmacy who tracks the trail of drugs from origination and knows their suppliers. Again, I don't believe this to be a major problem in Thailand, just be careful if you are offered "deals" on medications.
