hi expats,

as you all know i have been to pattaya 2times. in OCTOBER it will be my 3rd trip!!!! (damn you have no idea how much i miss those place )

the issue is i gonna bring my friend and only 2 dudes travel to LOS, he never been there and to be honest, i never been to BKK and usually i go to pattaya straight when i reach to DON Mueng airport. i usually travel alone and been many places, but nothing can beat to pattaya (for me :P ) the reason is that my friend birthday is on that month so why not bring him to a city that he never been before.

i have read some info about going to city in BKK and reach to nana plaza, but i just need help that what is the attraction in BKK like staying in BKK for 3days and how can i travel from Don Mueng airport to BKK city and reach to nana plaza, travelling around in the city and spend some night in nana plaza and then the 4th day travel back to pattaya. but i dont know how is the easier way and we are on budget for the travel, we just finish our 2nd degree but i am working and he is not.

so any advise if i can get like a train and the easier way, treat me like i am stupid an dont even know about the cost.

really appreciate if all expat could help.

please help me!!

From Don Muang airport take a taxi to Mochit BTS, should be around 200Bt+tolls if you take the tollway, once at Mochit you can avail the BTS to Nana station. To reach Patts on a budget get the bus from Ekkmai bus station.

Hi!

Depends on the amount of luggage you have. I think the cheapest is to take a taxi from Don Muang to Mo Chit sky train station (around THB 120, no need to take the express way in my experience). From there you can take BTS (the sky train) to the station “Nana” (THB 42 per person). Considering that you come with two friends it might cost you +/- the same as if you’d take the taxi all the way from Don Muang to Nana.

Traveling around the city is easy. Take a motorbike taxi within the Soi’s (THB 10 - 20), use BTS or MRT (the subway) whenever possible, otherwise relay on proper taxis with meters. Never take a tuktuk unless you specifically want to experience a ride in a tuktuk. Tuktuks are always more expensive than the other options. Buses are only for experienced travellers, imho.

To go from Nana to Pattaya take the same BTS from "Nana" to "Ekamai" (THB 31 per person). Ekamai is one of the big bus stations in Bangkok. There are buses from there to Pattaya every 20 minutes or so (THB 144 per person), you'll easily see the booth where they sell the tickets. In busy times the next bus might be sold out. In that case you'd have to wait for the next one. There are plenty of options around to buy food and drinks, waiting there is not a hassle.

If you are only coming for the girls then I’d suggest to go straight to Pattaya since it is cheaper and the choice is bigger, imho.

Bangkok is a metropolis, absolutely fantastic for shopping, going out, food, culture. I love Bangkok. It really depends on what you want to do besides the girls.

Admittedly, I don’t know the current situation with the protest sites. It might be that large parts of the interesting city are not accessible, especially if you are not into adventures. In this regard you have to rely on information of others, I haven't been in BKK since November.

hi mate

thanks for the advise. we yes we are going for girls, but its a waste if not going to city for a walk, you are right! just straight to patts and it more fund and price wise is cheaper, i thought about that but spending for 10days in patts alone and going for the same routine its seems to be a bit boring, that why reach to don mueng, spend 3days in city and 7days in patts.

your advise is great! but just want confrim that if i reach Ekamai station, then get a bus to patts, but where is the pattaya station? i heard is the main station where can go Rayong and chon buri, and the station is quite far to reach to pattaya town, is that true?

Its the Pattaya Bus Terminal on North Road. From there you can take a Songthaew for THB 20 per person and you are on Beach Road within 10 to 15 minutes. Easy.

The buses are quite comfortable too and go non-stop from Ekami to Pattaya.

I have taken that bus about 10 to 15 times so far, I never had a "Michael Schumacher" as a driver, i.e. I felt as safe as it gets. It is not like with mini vans. The Pattaya Bus drivers drive carfully, imho.

It takes around 2 to 2.5 hours depending on the traffic.

If you're hauling suitcases, much simpler to take hired car...Mister T or PT Taxi will take you to Pattaya from Bangkok for 1000-1100 baht I believe... from BKK airport PT Taxi charges 1000...

Depends on how much your time is worth and how much money you have I guess...  Coming from USA landing at BKK I always arrive too late to use BTS to go to Bangkok, or the buses to Pattaya, have always used taxis.

Faster, simpler, and you are delivered direct to your hotel...

You can find info on Mister T or PT Taxi by searching the forums...

ya, the last thing I want to do after flying is to deal with a bunch of buses and baht busses and subways and skytrains... give me a 30-40 dollar point to point ride, it's worth it...
