Hey Guys,

Im planning a trip to Thailand next month and wonder how is things in Pattaya. is there anything i should be aware of and/or is ther protests in Pattaya or just Bangkok? If so is it just a good idea to avoid Bangkok all together?

One of my buddies that is comming with me is acting like a pussy because of the protests he sees on the news and just wanted a first hand account of whats going on.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for point out that topic and read the last 10 or so pages of 65. However, it does not seem to discuss any impact on Pattaya. Is it safe to assume things are calm and somewhat normal there?

The best way to explain the problems affecting Pattaya are .... what protests? It does not really affect anything in "Sin City" :)

My mind wandered and never came back ;)

Svjedi Don't listen to your mate. Everything is fine here in Pattaya . I will let you know when I see tanks rolling down the street.

In the meantime may the  force be with you.

Even when the protests were at their worst in Bangkok it was possible to avoid them altogether if you wanted too.  I had to spend time in Bangkok but had no problems although I saw marches etc and barricades.  Then went on to Pattaya where you would never know that there were any problems anywhere in Thailand, everything just as normal!  If things get bad again, just avoid the trouble spots and you would be fine in Bangkok, they never seem to target tourists anyway.  If you fly in to Survanabhumi airport, you are already out of Bangkok on the way to Pattaya so should be no problem with that journey.  Just come and enjoy like everyone else has been doing.

The protester's openly stated they will not be blocking the airport and I read somewhere about taxi's out of the airport having special stickers on them if they are carrying tourists.

Thanks alot for all the great info. It sure helps sometimes on the news you just can't see the whole story. Grest to hear everything ok. Let me know if that changes. Im wheels up in two weeks if all goes as planned.

My two mid 70's aunts just returned to France after a month here. My 80 year old mother has been here a month and is

staying another another month. She wishes she was staying for 3 months not two. They are quite amused at the number

of people who are expressing fear about coming. Common sense should prevail. Stay away from protest areas in Bangkok,

everything else is a green light.

What were your aunts doing in pattaya? Seems strange anyway... I think its the news here in the states and whats happening in Ukraine that is causing alarm. Anyway were going and not letting it stop us.
