feeling ill after exercise!

I have started doing exercise  to lose weight for my trip to pattaya next June, however after finishing I keep feeling mild flu like symptoms. I know its winter but I have had my flu jab and to be honest even when training in summer time I still keep feeling ill after a workout, some say if you don't shower straight away the sweat that clings on your skin causes the cold symptoms but I have a hot shower as soon as  I have finished at the gym. Do any of you guys suffer similar symtoms after a workout? if so how do you deal with??? appreciate any info  :22600584-Th:  :22600584-Th:  p.s. forgot to add I am also in my forties now so maybe that's a factor?

By the sound of it you are wearing yourself out, ie diet is not correct.

To loose weight one still needs to eat, just eat correctly.

Also may well be toxins are coming out, your sweat does it have an unusually bad smell and feels different to regular sweat?

I do suffer with sweat rashes under the armpits after exercising but I take a cream for that, I don't think my sweat smell much different  around the rest of my body but the rashes do smell unpleasant. :GoldenSmile1:

You could be right, should I be eating a lot more fruit and veg? and is there any vitamin tablets I should be taking? I already take cod liver oil tablets. :hello09:

Easy solution give up working out I swear it makes one ill 5555

On a serious note check your Sugar Levels as what you list could indicate a Diabetic problem from something as small as low sugar levels or maybe a more bigger issue ref Diabetes

If you have not exercised for some time and then start at a a higher rate than your body can accept you may well feel flu like symptoms. Exercising no more that 3 to 4 days a week and initially no more the 1.5 hours on each of those days accompanied by a decent diet should see you ok.

It is essential to eat right as well as exercise, your body needs protean/fats/ carbohydrates daily, the amounts of each are what matters.  If you exercise and merely cut out food intake you are going to feel unwell.

Mate i can not just tell you what to eat more or less, because i do not know what and how much you eat now.

For example, good idea to have little rice as meal before working out in my opinion.

I do not know much about vitamins so can not comment, also sorry no idea about the rash, that could be just due to sweating. use some baby powder may be.

May be good idea, to have full blood works to see if all is in order

Don't over do it .Gradually build up your exercise regime ,doing too much too soon will mess you up

I will follow that advice because when I get there in June I'll need to be fit, strong and full of stamina to visit your place. :GrinNod1:   :23:

If you PM me  a breakdown of where you are at present and your goals with a time-line I will send you an example exercise program and diet plan. Just remember there are no quick fixes

Ghosty's touched on the thought that there is always a possibility of an underlying medical issue.

Realistically, for we 'more mature' folks who are out of shape and haven't exercised for a while, it's usually a good idea to visit your Doctor before starting a self-planned fitness regime.  Your Doc' can do some fairly routine tests and exam's to judge your current physical state, and indicate whether there are any health issues you may be unaware of.

I'd be visiting my GP and explaining what has been happening after exercise and what goals I'm hoping to achieve, and then take things from there.

I think if any of us are unfit and start exercising it's quite normal to feel a little unwell after a training session.  Even peak athletes can get quite unwell after a hard workout.  Always a good idea to get checked out and be sure though.

Cheers

I'm not a health professional but sounds like your blood sugar is dropping off which most likely is diet related. Try sipping on some Gatorade or other sport drink while working out and see if it helps. Not sure of your age or health, but you may want to see the doc before continuing your activity to make sure there is not something more serious causing the problem.

I might try the sports drinks although some say the best drink is water, despite my boyish good  looks :LMFAO: I am in fact 41, and feel older when finishing exercising or other strenuous activity.

Also drink a protein shake or have a light snack with some good carbs and protein about an hour before hitting the gym. An easy one for on the go is a peanut butter and whole wheat sandwich.

Water is great for hydration but a sports drink will give you some sugar and sodium to regulate your blood sugar and replace the salt lost through sweat.

Next time you feel Ill after working out eat some fast delivery sugar and see if it sorts you out. If it does my bet would be your blood sugar is the issue.

Good luck and keep at it.

Lost 16kgs since Feb 2013( I am 99.8kg / 6ft1)..went to see a doctor to have FULL blood tests done..found out my thyroid was very low so was my vitamin D levels, hence why I was so tired after waking up wanted to sleep again a few hours later.

Since the imbalances have been sorted out I'm a mean lean fighting machine  :GoldenSmile1:

As for your smelly rash get some good anti-fungal cream.

Cheers

nobody has mentioned water, make sure you are drinking plenty of water, most common rule of thumb is half your body weight in ounces...  so if you weigh 200 pounds, drink 100 ounces of water a day.  sorry all you metric guys, I am just a dumb american....  liters?  kilos?  huh?     :GoldenSmile1:

You're in your forties ?? so what !! lol....it's already been mentioned...you need to get your bloods done. Could be anything. Dont go down the road of hydration drinks, vitamins,  overloading with protein, untill you get your bloods done. You could be making the problem worse. You shouldn't be feeling ill after exercising. Unless you are very unfit, haven't trained for years and are pushing youself to hard to quick.

you need to get to the doc,s straight away,it could be anything, first of all get your blood pressure checked that's a good indication if it anything serious.

From time to time I get light headed and very nauseous during/after working out certain routines but that's about it.

Usually when I do very intense exercises that use a lot of body muscles and leaves me in oxygen debt, like crossfit or squatting.

Maybe I haven't read the replies here closely enough, but I didn't see anyone ask the most important question:
Are you a smoker [tobacco and/or any other substance]??

If you smoke, you need to quit.

You don't need a doctor to know that.

You can be the strongest and fittest guy in town, but if your lungs are damaged [from smoking], you're always going to be gasping for breath when you exert yourself. That includes when you're trying to have sex...

Now I'm in Thailand long-term  :Fantastic:

Lolitas :BJ3:  is my venue of preference when I'm in Bangkok

But I spend most of my time in Isaan; Khon Kaen or Nakhon Phanom
