Agoda.com now has 266 hotels listed in Bangkok.

Usually they are cheaper than each hotels direct site but not always.

However if you are a frequent visitor the reward points scheme certainly makes them cheaper.

I can vouch for this site, used them on my first LOS trip and it worked out 100% of the time. Great site for newbies, especially with the hotel map.

Good site and helpful 24/7 support, only anoying things are booking rooms for other people you have to fax your credit card details and security code but thats common policy, and if your chosen hotel has a promo like 4 nights for price of 3 then they charge full price than refund you later (hopefully) lol

Can vouch for Agoda big time.

Been using them for 8 years and never a problem with very good online support.

Thier reward scheme is great and and after about 5 bookings I was able to use my points for a pretty much 1 week free holiday in Pattaya.

They now have a GUARANTEED LOWEST PRICE

They are almost always lowest anyway but if you find cheaper they will refund the difference.

To be honest their prices are usually 100 or 200 cheaper - no big deal but the loyalty points scheme is valid worldwide and make it very good value.

Check out the Woraburi thread to see a great hotel (on Soi Nana too) at a great price

I agree that Agoda is the best online site for hotels, i use to use it all the time, but now i tend to use latestays.com as it comes out cheaper after Agoda adds their fee on.

The problem with latestays is the within 20 days booking thing, but for me it is fine because there are so many hotels to choose from , it doesn't matter if one is not available late.

I use Agoda a lot. I have found they have very good rates for some of the up-market places. I am about to use them for an upcoming trip.

Cheers,

Liam

Only thing I don't like about Agoda is, you have to enter dates to get a price, and then if that date is not available, there is no other option to see what dates are available.

Then you have to shuffle on and on, adding a few days or minus a few to get to a price. I would suggest just putting the price up front without entering dates, and if those dates are not available, provide a calendar that does show open dates.

It would save many a lot of time with the prices up front....rather than having to enter a date and find it's not in your range or not available.

Agree mate, it can be a little finicky. Also its prices tend to be very similar to others although they do have the "guarantee" that if you find cheaper they will refund the difference.

I use it because of the loyalty points - these are valid worldwide and if your a regular tripper to Thailand you can easily pick up a few free nights. Even if the price is the same as Sawasdee etc the loyalty points can give it an edge.

Always best to COMPARE

I have used http://www.agoda.com/ few times in the past, the site is quite clean and easy to use. Another of my favsourite sites for budget accommodation is http://www.hostels247.com/ they book both hostels and hotels worldwide. If your going to book accommodation online in Bangkok, Macau or anywhere, check these two sites out.

My thing about booking accommodation online is to make sure you can call them up, if you need help and these two I quite like their approach.

only other complaint is that they don't handle either the Pattay Bay Resort nor the Phuket Safari Beach

if you need to cancel your booking in Agoda,...how much do they charge for the fee? for hotwire you can't cancel it at all...you can't get money back if you cancel it.

I have booked several hotels with no problems using Agoda.com. One cautionary note though. If you decide to cancel you forfeit 100% of the fee. You get nothing back. So you MUST be committed to staying at the selected hotel for the selected period. I make a booking and tried to change it, but if I did I would loose all my money. The official cancellation policy is deceptive. It says one thing upfront, but when you have paid they got you by the balls and you cannot make any changes other than to extend your stay (translation give them more money). In the end I was okay, but it did piss me off for the afternoon.

Are these rates really cheaper than booking directly with the hotel?

I always look on different sites, this one is often the cheapest : www.r24thailand.com/

but sometimes Agoda, latestays or asiarooms has the better price.

It can also work to deal directly with the hotel, for instance Baboona wanted to go below internet prices for me.
