Sunshine hotel review?

Hi all,

My usual Nova Lodge hotel (been there for the last 2 years) having increased it's prices (both low and high season) it seems, I am currently considering swapping for sunshine hotel or residence (soi 8). Anybody has stayed there recently (or not so recently, any info welcome but please specify ;) )? Any recomendation for the room choice? there is 2 wing (old hotel and new residence it seems), both with 3 rooms category, so it means a lot of choice. Beeing kii niaow I drift toward cheap basic room in the old wing, is it any good? I am far from a palace-only guy, but I want something clean with a double bed and working electric plugs, without feeling i am in a prison cell ;)

What is the normal price for the room? My internet site show it starting from 900/1100 baht (old wing/new wing ) high season (I go end of march), is it ok? what about guestfriendliness?

Thanks for any info!

Kai

I stayed at both the residence and old hotel in November.

The residence is VERY nice, had a room on top floor with great sea view. Room is new, modern, clean, and big - everything you want. They have 2 pools, but they lack atmosphere and expect to wait 20 minutes for a drink !

The old wing is shit ! Don't even consider it ! For less cash you can stay at the Rock House in a room, 3 times bigger and 10 times as nice.

No problems with joiners.

San Francisco Cocksucka !!!

I've stayed in the Sunshine a couple of times. No problem. It was the cheaper room,so must have been the old wing. Guest friendly. I thought the rooms were OK and spacious enough-remote tv,a/c,fridge,chair,bedroom furniture etc. Cleaned daily (if you're up!). It's less "tired" than parts of the Nova. Less of a walk to the Nova too,if you finish on soi 8.

Thanks to all! What did you pay for a room end of march-early april? www.sawasdee.com show a 900 (single)/1050 (twin) for the old wing, 1100(single)/1250(twin) for the new wing, is it cheap, or can I get better? At Nova this website gave me chepear price than negociating at the reception! Also, no double bed option in the cheap rooms, but I hope this is a mistake or confusion, twin often mean 2 person thus 2 breakfeast but has no meaning on the bed arrangement...

Rockhouse rooms are very nice, but unfortunately no swimming pool. Or is there one? I stayed in similar serviced appartments often in Patong, but there I stayed with my gf/kik and the sea is nicer, in Pattaya I would prefer to have a nice swimming pool...However, the quality/price ratio of the room is really good...hum, tough choice....

Anyway, I will check the coral reef bar, thanks for the invitation :Good_One: he he, I remember you from the nip thread :22600584-Th: Be sure I will come to have nice advice around a beer ;)

If you book "sunshine" direct they have a special offer of stay 6 nights and 7th is free. However IMHO still on the dear side for the low season.

How do you book direct on sunshine? I found their website (I think) but no special offer and price was a little bit more than on the "generalist" website for most types of rooms...For Sunshine connaisseurs, what's the cheapest way to book a room? I must do it quite soon now cause I am leaving in 2 weeks (yai!!!!! happy happy happy :D )

Pics of a room in the Residence side; no pics of the old wing not worth taking.

First things first. The most important part of any room...

Second most important item in the room... nice bed... notice the car stereo/CD player in the night stand with the speakers in the wall...

Standard Thai hotel wardrobe, fridge, and TV...

Looking towards the balcony...

And finally the view from said balcony...

Thanks, saw it! Unfortunately, special offer starts from April 16 onwards. Too late for me, I leave the 9. BTW, it (16 April) is also the beginning of the low season prices in most of the internet hotel resaervation site, and the price they offer is generally a little bit lower that direct (just checked),...I use sawasdee and Agoda. Never had a problem with any of them, and used sawasdee a lot ;)

Not sure about this time, but i always used to stay there.

Nice clean rooms, room service, girl friendly, a pool and right in the action. Reasonable price.

Biggest downside i found was the place is to popular.

Last time i was there i was staying on a night by night basis and i actually got kicked out because the place was booked completly out in advance for one weekend.

I've stayed at the Sunshine at least a dozen times. It was always in the new wing, sea view room if available. It's a decent hotel with everything you could possibly want close by. It can be a little noisy at night, but wouldn't let that bother you.

I did stop using the hotel last year, because most of the front desk people the last few years have been assholes to deal with, regarding reservations, pricing, payments, rooms,...

Now, I stay a few steps away at Eastiny Place. Rooms are not quite as nice, but pool is one of the best in Pattaya and the price is less for a room.

I just come back from hollidays, and for me the hotel was not bad: room is ok (I stay old wing, I paid a visit to see new wing room and as somebody said not a big difference, a little bigger but not worth the price increase at this time of the year. With low season fares, it would worth it....).

The pools are small (I used to stay at Nova Lodge, where the pool is very nice and big), but setup in a nice garden (not as nice as Nova Lodge, but better than a naked concrete floor).

Reception was friendly and no problem, guest policy is nice (they call u after to ask if everything was OK! :Chokdee3: ). Location is very good, maybe too central for those who do not like to "shit close to your own place").

On the minus side, the room is lacking electric plugs (I have many gadgets to charge, and had only one plug :( ), and the breakfeast is not good imho. This is a point where Nova Lodge win hands down, but I wake up too late for breakfeast allmost all the time, so not such a big deal ;)

All in all, a good alternative to Nova Lodge, I guess I will be back again...but only in high season, N L rates for low season are down again and the nicer swimming pool, larger rooms (but older), and far better breakfast make up for the price difference in low season...

Stayed at Sunshine hotel on Soi8 in June, ordered a deluxe room they put me in some old room on ground floor ,very noisy , also people drinking in the hallways when i arrived almost immediately gave me a bad impression of the hotel,. people swimming in the pool 3-4 am yelling and howling almost every night. Breakfast was included they said but didnt give me any red slips till the 3rd day of my stay, when i asked about it the woman behind the front desk barked LATER. The night manager i think she was small young woman was very rude. the only good point is its right on Soi 8 and the hotel has a captive clientel. Also they will send former ladyguest to your room unanounced, as u may have another guest in your room at that time.

Time for a Dubie !!
