A Father Shoots And Kills His Drug Addicted Son

A drug addicted son that was violent towards his family was shot to death by his father after his son assaulted and threatened him. The father then fled the scene with the weapon and is still on the run.

NAKHON SRI THAMMARAT – January 31, 2014 [PDN]; at 9.00 a.m. Khaosod journalist reported to Pol. Lt. Col. Sompong Phromrueangchot (Deputy Superintendent of Phrom Khiri, Nakhon Si Thammarat province)that a father shot his own son to death at a house address 32/1 Moo 5 Tambon Phrom Lok, Amphur Phrom Khiri, to Pol. Maj. Gen. Phachara Boonyasit (Commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat province) rushed to scene together with the investigation officer. This incident occurred at about 10.30 p.m. on January 30, 2014.

At the incident the officers found the corpse of a Mr. Thanyaphat Karasri, aged 38, who had been shot twice in the chest with a .38 size gun and died instantly. The shooter was identified as a Mr. Sa-ner Karasri, aged 60, who is a security guard at a university in Nakhon Si Thammarat province and he is the father of the deceased. After he shot and killed his son he then fled the scene.

Pol. Lt. Col. Sompong said that after the initial investigation he perceived that Mr. Thanyaphat (the deceased) was a drug dealer and consumed amphetamines and his mother also had been arrested for drugs and had just been released from jail . When Mr. Thanyaphat had taken drugs he would assault Mr. Sa-ner (his father) .Therefore, Mr. Sa-ner could not endure his son’s behaviour anymore so he went to stay with his relatives until his other children who work in Bangkok asked Mr. Thanyaphat to tell Mr. Sa-ner to go back home. But after he was home for only 2 weeks Mr. Thanyaphat was high on drugs again and assaulted Mr. Sa-ner violently so Mr. Sa-ner grabbed his gun and shot Mr. Thanyaphat twice in the chest killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.

After incident occurred the police went to arrest Mr. Sa-ner at his relatives’ s house but there was no trace of him. The police expect that Mr. Sa-ner will surrender himself to the police but if he doesn’t they will ask for an arrest warrant from the court and will follow up to arrest him to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
