For quite awhile I have used Nobel.com to purchase my time to make calls to my girlfriend in Thailand. Unfortunately, the quatily has deteriorated to the point where I can hardly understand what she is saying most of the time. She can hear me just fine, but her voice is often very fuzzy to the point of having to repeat everything many times. Sometimes I just let her talk and agree with whatever she says since I can't understand her. I have called them a few times and they assured me they would fix the problem. Well, sometimes it's ok, but still most of the time it sucks.

 

So I was on Thaijourney.com last week and read a thread about what people used to call Thailand. One card was mentioned that I checkec out at Thaitel.com, the One Card. I have been using it for about a week now and it is absolutely wonderful. Nice, clear connection on both ends. Runs you one cent a minute and some minimal charge once a week, etc. Yes, Nobel was much cheaper but to my thinking not worth the tons of money I have spent on it as it just seems to be getting worse.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I was buying a couple of cards from ALOSMART.com, but as you stated, quality was a hit or miss, mostly miss!

Well I got riped off,I spoke twice to a girl in Thailand one 12 min the other 18 mins and got a bill for those 2 calls were 134. USD ON AT&T

I've been using cards off of Speedypin and found that the STI Muchacho (yeah, I know it sounds spanish) is reasonably good quality sound and about 1.4 cents per minute to her cell:

69 cents per week fee.

 

I talk to the teelack for 30-60 minutes each day and spend about $30 per month when I'm in the States.

 

On the rare occasions when I get a bad connection I just tell her I'll call her back. With 3 minute rounding a bad call will cost me 4.2 cents assuming I decide to try again within the first three minutes.

 

That cost should drop soon since I'll be back in LOS for the majority of the summer and fall starting next week!

yeah, i've been using cards from Thaitel for a while now too. I have 2 separate cards. One is the Be Smart card, no charge from 1pm till 4 pm Pacific time and the other is the Xtreme card only 2.5 cents per minute. Quality is good and connection is always easy although during new years was the only time i couldn't connect.
