hi all

im interested to know what the costs of having a baby in thailand are.

as i am now faced with the problem. ( one drunken night with no condom )

and my gf takes 3 f.....g months to decide if shes pregnant or not.

Are there government funded hospials etc

Is there help for people in the rural districts as this is where she lives ( korat )

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

If she has « tobien ban » (house matriculation) in korat, she can go to government hospital there. She has to pay only 30 thb per day. After the birth, milk, diapers… will cost you almost 5 000 thb/month.

Cost of child depends of what kind of life you want for him or her. The big decision will be in 4 or 5 years when you will have to choose a school.

Cheers

Probably the first cost you should consider s the cost of being a father (not measured in baht).

Costs have increased a lot somewhat but 4 years ago at BHP my daughter's birth left me with a bill of just over 35000 baht, which includes 2 nights stay in hospital and limited post natal care for the baby. At this particular hospital t odayyou can probably add on another 15000. If you're going to go private you can realistically expect costs of around 40 - 50 thousand. Mind you, that's just the beginning...............

Just before my Son was born I was quoted 64,000 baht for Bangkok Pattaya hospital, I then done some home work and my Son was born in srichai (Queens hospital) 45 minutes drive from Pattaya, we had are own private room which was like a cheap 600/700 baht hotel in Pattaya (TV, sofa, fridge and so on) the service was excellent and the nurses always check up on my girl every couple of hours and they were just outside my room in the evenings and early morning, they also gave us a basket full of nappies & milk bottles and other bits free when we left, we stayed there for 3 days and the cost was under 7000 baht all in. Your best bet is to look for hospitals which are just outside of Pattaya as the prices come down a lot. And the most important part let your misus do the talking and stay out of the way so you don't get charged farang prices

Cheers

He's not that far off it, for my son it was 1000 baht a month for milk, about 2000 baht for nappies, and you still have to add baby food and other bits to this

You are 100% right there, Bangkok pattaya hospital is just a business center now, your health is the last thing on their mind... I think 1st is your Visa or Mastercard number.

Couldn't agree more about the big hospitals only being in it for the money. Once had an infection and went to Thai Nakirin hospital and 5 months later still had it. Was going there once a week at about 2500 bht a time. Got suspicious and went to my local hospital where they couldn't understand why Thai Nakirin had given me the drugs they had. My local hospital gave me some different drugs and the infection cleared up in 2 days and cost 700bht.
