PATTAYA – January 29, 2014 [PDN]; at 7.00 a.m. Pol. Lt. Nijjasan Phuaphansri (investigation officer of Banglaumung police station, Chonburi province) was notified that there was an accident where container truck had collided with a school shuttle van and many students were injured. The incident occurred on highway no. 36 (Kathing Lai – Rayong), route to Pattaya, Moo 3 Tambon Nong Pla Lai, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province, so he rushed to inspect the scene together with the police team and the rescuers of Sawang Boriboon Tharmma Satharn foundation, Pattaya city.

At the incident the officers found the bronze Toyota van, license number NOR NGOR – 819 Chonburi, a school shuttle van of Srisuwit Pattaya School, was parked in the middle of the road and was severely damaged at the front. It was carrying a total of 22 kindergarten and primary students. A total of 8 students had been with cuts and scratches so the rescuers performed first aid for them then sent the injured students to Bangkok hospital (Pattaya).

Upon questioning Mr. Manit Singsomboon, aged 57, who was the van driver, he said that before incident occurred he was taking picking up students to take them to school. He then saw the container truck which was swaying and suddenly 2 containers fell off and smash into the van and the truck lost control and tipped over.
Mr. Natthaphol Phoka, aged 24, who was the truck driver, said that he was driving from Rayong province to Laem Chabang port and when he arrived at the incident point there was a curve and a pickup truck was parked on the left lane so he swerved to miss it causing the 2 containers to fall off smashing into the van.

However, after initial investigation then the police took the photos and made a record about the accident for evidence and detained Mr. Natthaphol (the truck driver) to prosecute him with allegations of driving carelessly causing injury to other people.
