Hi has anyone got experience with booking flights with bangkok airways? Just booked a flight from bangkok to phuket on March 2nd. The fare has been debited from my account and I have confirmation number. Do I need to confirm with the airline prior to going to airport and also how long before flying do I need to be there, any help would be great thanks.

Check-in Time

It is important that you check-in for your flight and get to the gate on time.

  • Passenger must present Passport / Official ID Card / Travel Document needed upon check-in.
  • You must be in possession of a boarding pass by the time check-in closes or you will not be accepted for the flight.
  • Bangkok Airways Check-in Desks at Suvarnabhumi International Airport:
    • Domestic Flight: Check-in Desk will be closed 40 minutes before departure time
    • International Flight: Check-in Desk will be closed 50 minutes before departure time
  • Bangkok Airways Check-in Desks at other Airports:
    • Domestic Flight: Check-in desk will be closed 30 minutes before departure time
    • International Flight: Check-in desk will be closed 40 minutes before departure time

why you go from Bangkok, going from pattaya airport is a lot better and quicker,i just got back from a week in Phuket using Bangkok airways, all you need is your passport, and at pattaya its just 1 hour before to check in,no waiting in lines a breeze.

Do web check in. Print out your boarding pass. Also, join their frequent flier club for free, and you get - in addition to the standard twenty  kilograms - a free ten  kilograms of luggage .

used them to chang mai this month,,,,,,,,,,,,,

checked in online and printed boarding pass off......then forgot to take it with me !!!!

no problem...just showed passport at bag drop off counter

Very good regional airline, their airport at Samui is probably one of the nicest regional airports in the world.

Don't forget to use their free airport lounges, they're not as nice as the big airlines but still free tea, coffee, snacks, wifi, papers, mags etc.

Thanks for the info guys. So just to clarify no confirmation before arriving at the airport is needed and I just check in at the airport as normal to check in?

I always do web check in because - with many airlines - you can go directly to baggage drop; thus saving time.

Cheers will try that. I paid 80 pound bangkok to phuket return is that reasonable for early March?

Flown BKK Airways twice, once to Phnom Penh and once to Trat.  Both flights on time and comfortable.  Check in on-line, or print your confirmation and obtain your boarding pass at the airport.

<br /><br />I think Bangkok Air are a great airline but Air Asia you will find infinitely (well maybe 50%) cheaper it's worth doing a comparison before you book I know in Australia if you are using a travel agent the they just put you on Bangkok Air and hope you never find out.

As Zakoo said if you are in Patts , why fly from Bangkok it would be easier to use U-Tapao and if you are already in Bangkok there would be cheaper options from DM Airport

Having said that I like Bangkok Airways , not the cheapest option but good airline

If it floats, flies or fucks It's probably cheaper to rent ...

++++ !  If going up to Bangkok, fuck BKK Air. Paying 2X the Nok or Air Asia price is only worth it for the convenience of UTP.

Oh, i forgot, they show Wallace and Gromit on their flights - that's the clincher for me :)
