I have a good thai friend that is setting me up with her daughter! If I wanted to bring her over at some stage for a 6 month holiday visa or any other type of visa would it be a benefit having her mum living and working in the UK?

Yes and no.   Yes the fact that she has other people in the UK and a general reason to visit, however, you still need to prove she will return within 6 months, and the fact her mum resides in the UK will cast doubt.  Also, you need to prove a relationship has happened for a period of time with all of the evidence assuming you are going to support her.

not as easy as you might think, but deffinately possible.
