KHON KAEN – January 17, 2014 [PDN]; at 10.30 a.m. Pol. Lt. Col. Kraisorn Phanoi (Inspector of Mueang Khon Kaen police station) arrested a Mr. Theerawat Janthawan, aged 23, address 138 Moo 17 Tambon Sila, according to the arrest warrant of Khon Kaen provincial court at J.320/2556 dated August 23, 2013 in the allegation of rape under section 276 and sent him to Pol. Col. Jaroon Nuamthong (Superintendent of Mueang Khon Kaen police station) in order to be investigated further.

On July 30, 2013 Mr. Jo (alias), aged 63, who is the ex-missionary, took his adopted daughter named Ms. Nat (alias), aged 18, who is a Matthayomsuksa 3 student to notify the police to prosecute Mr. Theerawat Janthawan that raped Ms. Nat while she was in a drug rehab hospital in Khon Kaen province.

Mr. Jo told the police that previously he had sent Ms. Nat to a drug rehab hospital. On May 25, 2013 Mr. Theerawat who was also in drug rehab dragged Ms. Nat in to the toilet where he raped her several times. Mr. Jo brought Ms. Nat to notify with Pol. Lt. Col. Prasert Toomchim (the expert investigation officer of Khon Kaen University sub-branch police station , Amphur Mueang) in order to follow up to arrest Mr. Theerawat to be prosecuted as soon as possible.

Pol. Col. Jaroon said that he had asked for an arrest warrant from Khon Kaen provincial court and had been following up to find Mr. Theerawat. He was finally arrested at his grandmother’s home after he went there to take care of her. Once arrested he denied all allegations but he accepted that he was the person that was indicated in the arrest warrant.

Mr. Theerawat said that he knew Ms. Nat but he didn’t have any sexual relations with her as her adoptive father accused of him but he claimed that Mr. Jo (Ms. Nat’s adoptive father) forced him to confess that he had sexual relations with Ms. Nat and he had to get married with her so he refused because he never had a sexual relationship with her. Mr. Theerawat also said that he was still arduous (got difficulty for his life) which he could not take care of anybody else so he refused Mr. Jo and he was ready to prove his honesty in the court then he asked for fairness and sympathy.
