How long does it take for an average STD to show? Are the incubation periods alot different? Or should I feel something within a few days, say if the girl has a case of the clap?

Not necessarily-HIV shows up majority of cases in 30 days but they say 90 days to be certain..many other symptoms show up fast, eg the pissing razorblades associated with the clap, etc..

As Roidfreak said many of the symptoms will show up quickly normally within 7-10 days. Could be anything from a discharge to peeing razor blades. If you are not sure and are worried a couple of words of advice please stay covered up and get checked NOW!!!
