School Truck Break Failure Causes Student Death

A school truck that was going down a hill suffered break failure causing it to lose control crashing through a steel barrier killing 1 passenger and injuring the others.

RAYONG – January 7, 2014 [PDN]; Pol.Lt.Col. Surasak Jaisue, specialist detective of Rayong police station, was informed that there had been an accident where a school car had suffered break failure crashing through the steal barrier and into a pine apple plantation, moo 6, Nakhwan. There was 1 dead and lots of injured victims. Rescuers from Sawanporn Kusol foundation Rayong rushed to send them to Ruampat Rayong Hospital, the police reported to their commander, Pol.Col.Sukitti Sawaikiat, director to see the crime scene.

At the crime scene was a white Izusu truck, license plate numbers 82- 2662, which contained students from Chalermprakiet Somdej Prasrinakarin Rayong School. The pick-up was found in a pine apple plantation. Inside the pick-up they found the body of a Miss Sukrita Khantong, grade 7/2, with bruises on her head and had suffered a broken neck. The driver was a Mrs.Nawarat Laomahong, 45 years old. The driver was severely injured and was sent to Rayong hospital, 26 students were injured.

From asking, the students they told police that they were picked up from their school on the hill. Whilst it was going down the steep hill and approached the 90 degree bend the brakes failed causing it to crash through the steel barrier and into a pineapple plantation killing 1 and injuring many others.
