Septoplasty

I got to have this done on the 23rd April, also the day United play Barcelona which is a bit gutted. Have to watch it from my hospital bed. Very happy as I have waited years to have it done and they have for some reason put me in a private hospital through the NHS for free. Has anyone else had this procedure done? I know you have Azzey.

the worst thing is for me - the bone has just grown back the same as it was before, on the same side, so my nose is as blocked as it was before i had the op.

Most good hospitals use silicon plugs nowadays instead of the normal swabs. Ask if you can get them. Its almost painless when they remove them.

Fucking hell I got told that I'll just have bandages for a week and have to stay indoors for fear of infection. Sounds like I got what you had. The septum has set wonky because of a broken nose previously. I hope it works, I'm fed up with the nasal malarkey when I'm sleep and in the morning when I clear my nose sometimes, especially after a good night.

 

Do you reckon we're good enough to win it this year? We have the best team in it and I feel a buzz this year that I haven't had since we won it. We're playing shit hot football again, like we used to in Europe.

 

Oh yeah, do you find that you have less of a problem breathing in hotter climates such as LOS? Over there my breathing improves a lot.

Well tomorrow is the big day! I get admitted at 12pm. I really hope It's finished and they bring me round by the time the football starts, if I miss that I'll be well pissed off.

Use one of the shaver things up you nose before you go and when you have the splints out get them to squirt Novocain up it

I have had it twice

 

First time sub-mucal septoplasty and deviation on the inferior turbinates, second time same thing but median turbinates

 

Its a bit of a bloody snotty mess for a week or so but theres generally an improvement over what it was before

 

I live here now and the only thing that helps is regular swimming in the ocean - apparently the salt water has both an astringent and anti-septic effect

 

Otherwise I can only breathe through my noise north of the arctic circle
