Finger Printing in Phnom Penh Airport

Featured Replies

Just be aware that if you fly into Phnom Penh Cambodia from Bangkok, and you are not Thai, the Cambodians now take your fingerprints and a photo of you, upon arrival and upon departure.

For a year or so now - also at land crossings if they work.

History of what?

Hopefully the OP can come back & advise why he has posted this

No shortage of Barang & African scumbags none-the-less. No need at PNH or REP, but if doing a land crossing, you're usually better off w/an E-Visa. It's supposed to be $20 at the border, but I've got to be really obstinant & stare them down for 5 mins, to get to $25. Most newbies I've seen seemed to pay 1000B - $40.

I certainly hope that the fingerprinting will help to deter the entry of known baby fuckers, so I do not mind the minor inconvenience of being fingerprinted.

Let's hope that they can use fingerprints to catch the murderer of the gal in the Bolina Hotel.

Can anyone explain how fingerprinting and photographing visitors on arrival AND DEPARTURE adds any security to that which is obtained by passport control?

I find it an intrusion. Helps if somebody's looking for you (FBI, Scotland Yard, Europol) or you snagged a new passport I suppose. Maybe it automatically feeds it into some sort of criminal database. I know the US paid for 'em. They were probably tired of alerts being ignored.

To see if the same person that came in on that passport is leaving on it and not some convict

trying to get out on a stolen one ... ?

They have better in Thailand.  One picture, you are identified--even with plastic surgery.   If your not a felon or transporting drugs--why worry?   Don't we want them to stop the bad guy's?   What is all this "Big Brother" stuff?   If your a bad person in the US or Thailand---we get you.   If you think this is oppressive, fly into Yemen or N. Korea---a ball point pen can be deemed called anti-suppressive.  (never new what that meant).  I suggest you stop stealing the magazines on the plane and move on.

"If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear...."  The logic of a police state and phone hacking tabloids.

Regardless if they finger print you your home country knows where you have been. If you are a scumbag you will get caught eventually.

Soon ass printing (in full technicolor).

However, a good smelly pork fart ruins the test! :GoldenSmile1:
