I have a 14.05 Nok Air flight booked in the new year, I just need to know how long it will take in a taxi from Pattaya to Don Mueang so I can arrange a collection time with Mr T.

Thanks in advance.

Normally just over 2 hours . Friday/Saturday often a bit longer .

Maybe the protest have influence in the route the driver

takes what also may increase travel time .

You should be fine if you leave Pattaya in a taxi at 10.00 a.m.

But if you run into a yellow shirt demonstration the trip could take many many hours.

Nothing in Thailand is 100% sure.

Thanks guys.

Ask Mr. T.  The taxi services know the problems and communicate with each other to avoid them.

Also consider the extra time you may need for check-in at the airport after you get there.

Leave early, and give yourself enough time.  Sometimes taxi drivers will not use the toll road closer to the airport, this happened to me.  I was stuck in traffic and just made my flight.  Everyone has good things to say about Mr. t,  I have never used them.  Just make sure they use the toll all the the way (tell them and pay the extra).  With all the protests happening in Bangkok, maybe book a hotel close to the airport if it is a very important flight.  For me missing a domestic flight wasn't a big deal, international flights is another problem.

With all the problems being threatening in BKK after Saturday, who knows if the airport will be open?

Hotels near Don Muang Airport include the Amari Airport - right across the road from the terminal and accessible via the footbridge.

Also there is the Airport Asia Hotel in Rangsit which offers free airport transfers.

With all the demonstrations why not book a hotel close to the airport?  Who know's what a nightmare it might be.

Can you put off the flight until you know how the situation will be?

----Domestic flights are so cheap, if you can put it off until you know.  seems a bad time to enter BKK.  Partial refund?

Travelling now is a pain ---actually the worst time--New Year.  Stay put and swallow the loss.  Stay putt and see what happens after the third.

If you must go, then go.  Take some pictures and be ready for delays.   Make sure you have a place to stay in any event.  Big unrest and strikes according to newspapers are sure to follow.

My advice would be to stay put until this is settled, then again----watch things first hand, just be safe!

Be nice to hear from the ex-pats how things are going.  2010 seemed very tame as far as coups are concerned (Pattaya).  I was in Pattaya, an English teacher.  We weren't allowed to gather in groups of 5 or more.   In Pattaya this was unenforcible, but you could cut the stress from the cops with a knife.

Has this had any effect to business in Pattaya.    Some girls report a slow down, while others report an uptick from people  migrating from BKK.

For all in Patty Land----do you see any difference?

Let your taxi take road 9 and half way go left on the Ram inthra road, traffic won't be so bad as through the centre of BKK.

A good girl gives you happiness and a bad girl gives you experience both are essential in life so enjoy every girlfriend!

Allow 2 1/2 hours-  Mr T always takes my TG to/from Don Muang for her Air asia flight to Ubon Ratchathani

We did the trip yesterday lek hotel to don meuang left 11am arrived 1pm but traffic was light.

If traffic is heavy or there is an accident then all bets are off with 2 hours travel time.

I left Sunview Place at 10.30am on the 3rd of February and arrived at the airport at 12.30. The return journey on the 6th was about 2.5 hours as we landed at 16.00 hours so the traffic was a little heavier
