That won't happen

You will need a re-entry permit to get the remainder of your existing retirement visa otherwise you will just get a 30 day stamp.

I read (on thaivisa) that there is such a thing if you have a proper Retirement Visa i.e. from your home country.

 

If, like most of us, you only have an Extension of Stay (Retirement) obtained in Thailand - forget about that.

It used to be three months I think.

Thanks. I was playing a waiting game with the baht / sterling exchange rate before transferring my qualifying 800K and I might be a day or two out on the 90 day period.

Be aware that with renewing your retirement visa you still have to do the 90 day reporting separately. I skipped this last year since I had already provided my address on the extension of stay, and was fined 2000 baht the next time I did the 90 day reporting.

 

But if you leave the country and return with a re-entry permit then you get a new 90 day clock until you're required to report.

 

I apply for my extension at least 2 weeks prior to the expiration, the year extension is appended to the expiration date, not the application date, so there's no penalty in applying early. However, the money has to be in bank for at least 90 days prior to the application.

my retirement visa was done via mafia i paid 13,000 bht they put the money in and with drew within 5 mins  the next day they submitted bank details and my passport got the visa back from immigration and all my 90 day reports fine AMZING THAILAND! but i have to travel down to chonbury from isaan bit of a bummer so looks like i have to do it again.

I did that for my first renewal. I was skeptical too, but both the officer at soi5 immigration and 5star visa run told me the exact same thing. They did all the paperwork and went smoothly.

well i simply dont have the funds i dont get any pension for another 18 months but lived here 10 years via E,bay and a good thai wife and family YES they do exist and thats a future post of mine.

Actually 13k is a good price - some agents are charging twice that.

you can renew your retirement visa up to one month before it expires but one day late and its gone[finished]

if your retirement visa isa NON   0A    visa (delivered by home country TH. Embassy (not local Patt Maffia )you can by a visa run, before the expiering day (date on sticker enter before date X.. )  get another year one time  ! 

the Non O visa multiple give  you in same way only extra 3 month,s  so a total of 15 months nearly .

 

oA visa only in your home country and with Police & doctors rapport  and with the financial criterias needed.

 

 

PS; remember good a stamp can be falsified by.....x ., but you can not get in the data system that way .....   ,and if problem comes out , even the "official " connections  wil save their necks and not knowing you ..., your big problem

The problem is that many (even including Immi') loosely refer to the latter as a Retirement Visa, which it is not.

In the case of an EoS it is only an extension based on your original Visa and once it has expired you are back to square one i.e. you need a new Visa before you can apply for an EoS.

this was my first issue for retirement done here chonbury by people i never met via a thai friend so looking like another mafia job then with same people??
