Solo Thief Snatches Hand Bag Containing £2,000

The police are hunting a solo thief that tricked and Thai woman’s foreign husband to go and see the manger and while he was gone he rushed into their room snatching a hand bag containing £2,000 and other important documents.

PATTAYA – December 23, 2013 [PDN]; at 2.00 p.m. Pol. Capt. Thitiwat Boon-orn (Investigation officer of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) was notified that there was a robbery at 16/210 on the 7th floor of Pattaya Pad Condominium, Soi Sukhumvit 42 (Soi Nok Khao), central Pattaya, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province so he rushed to inspect at scene together with forces of his police team.

At the incident the officers found Mr. Keith Taylor, aged 46, British nationality and Mrs. Makkhawan Taylor, aged 37, who is his Thai wife from Mahasarakham province. Mrs. Makkhawan told the police that she has been married to Mr. Keith for several years and they usually spend most of their time in England and visit her hometown in Thailand once a year that they just arrived Thailand at approximately12.00 p.m. on the day of the incident her and her husband were carrying their luggage into the elevator to go up to the 7th floor. While they were waiting for the elevator Ms. Makkhawan saw a Thai male teenager, aged approximately 20-25, with thin shape, and was wearing a long sleeved violet sweater with the hood and the black jean pants, height approximately 165-170 cm., that he was standing talking on the phone in front of the elevator.

At approximately 2.20 p.m. while her and her husband were sitting in their room suddenly there was a knock at the door and when she opened the door she saw the male teenager that she saw in front of the elevator. He then said that the manager wanted to talk with her husband so he went down stairs. When he was gone the man the Thai male teenager immediately walked into their room and grabbed her handbag that was on the table which contained £2,000 pounds (approximately 160,000 THB), a passport, credit cards and many important government documents inside. Then the male thief walk downstairs to the ground floor and rode away on a white-black Kawasaki KSR motorbike (she didn’t know the license number)to flee the scene.

From inspecting more than 10 CCTVs that are installed at various points around the condominium the police found this male thief parked his motorbike then walked upstairs to the upper floor without using the elevator and then checked the rooms on each floor to see whether there was anyone staying in the rooms or not. He pretended to talk on the mobile phone to observe the returning couple then told a lie to trick her husband to go and see the manager of the condominium before he snatched the handbag.

However, the police had already investigated the victim including the bystanders and the eyewitnesses for evidence and will bring the picture from CCTV footage to be the information to follow up to arrest the thief and prosecute him further according to the Thai law.
