Deputy directing general of department of special investigation, DSI, opened the office and of illegal influential people and received complaints from Thai tour guides that there are foreign tour operators and guides taking their jobs.

PATTAYA – December 23,2013 [PDN]; Mr.Permpoon Puengprasit, the Deputy Director General of the Department of Special Investigation, Pol.Lt.Col.Bantoon Chimkara, and the chief of the Illegal influential people suppression operating center, to prevent and suppress the influential people that are threating areas of Pattaya and Chonburi. Mr. Prawit Chaibuadang, Director of DSI region 2, and Mr.Cherdsak Wisuttikol, director of employees inspectorate and protection, department of Employment, Chonburi .

Mr.Permpoon, the deputy directing general of the DSI, said that the opening of the illegal influential people suppression operating center, was to support and promote the tourism in terms of security and national security, currently, were lots ofThai and foreign business people that were doing illegal business.
This is to address issues regarding security of tourists by fraud, intimidation, threatening physical harm both on tourists and tour operators which was happening on a daily basis, so the DSI set up a centre to receive complaints that affect travelers, by acting against the influential people who are a threat to tourism, or hiring Thai people to do business instead (Nominees), which may be considered special cases. Moreover the DSI will coordinate its work with other offices related to fix the urgent problem.

Later, there were more than 100 of tour guides from Pattaya and Chonburi, came to notify to Mr.Permpoon Puengprasit, Deputy Directing General of the DSI, about their problems about the tourism business. The complaint consisted of ……

1. Foreigners hiring Thai people to hold their business. (Nominees)
2. Foreign tour guides.
3. Deceiving the tourists to purchase products at too high price.
4. Illegal tour counter.
5. Illegal foreign lending system.

Mr.Permpoon, took all the complaints and coordinated with police region 2 to join the process of investigation and prosecution.

The Illegal Influential People Suppression Operating Centre.

What a mouthful.

I wonder who thought that up.

The Thai translation would be interesting.

Can anyone translate that article to English.

Much appreciated.

Basically, Thai tour operators in Pattaya are upset that Russian tour operators and business owners are trying to monopolize, threaten, and cheat customers instead of them. Taking away from the gravy train if you will.

So they are taking their complaints to higher ups in office.

It's a fucking embarrassing joke, why can't they see it?

Russians taking over Thai jobs in Patts started a couple of years ago and its getting worse, they only have to look at the problems caused in Phuket recently, will they stop it though-my guess no :Think1:

In general, Russians only like to deal with other Russians.

Could we knick name it  " the immigrant piss off centre?"

The russian tour guides are working openly easy to check work permits ? All are probably working with some sort of permit brought(bribed) from the right contact.

yep.... if thais were operating those businesses, most of the russians wouldnt be buying tours from them anyway, they would just ignore them.

Could we knick name it  " the immigrant piss off centre?"

I'm with the locals on this one....why should they let Russians colonise part of their country.

I think a lot of the ruskies would be delighted if they could turn Pattaya into some sort of Russian satellite city where they don't have to deal with any Thais.

I live in London and there is an attitude there that's lead to London not really being an English city anymore. As a foreigner it doesn't bother me. I very much doubt Thais will take the same view but as ever there's always some official who will sell his soul for a few thousand baht...

It can be very difficult for immigration authorities to discern the difference between a foreign tour guide accompanying a group to Thailand and a foreign tour guide operating just in Thailand. This issue pops up in tourist destinations around the world. In Canada we have a great number of illegals (Americans and others) doing precisely this and it is a challenge.

Outstanding explanation and IMO very accurate.

Plenty of Russians working openly on the road down to Pattaya Park soi 7, Russian DJ on the market , girls working in shops and pharmacy's, tour guides handing out flyers. even seen them in small restaurants, like the one below Nova condo.

If they wanted to find them, they would not have to look very far.

But then as someone said, Russian tourists don't on the whole speak Thai or English, and Thai's don't speak Russian, so what the heck can they do if they don't have Russians helping them. Its the law needs changing to make it easier for them to work in the field

Let's change the law so that all nationalities can work in that field not just Russians. Can't see that ever happening.

In European ski resorts,Tour Reps are allowed Only to guide their clients around the Pistes but they are not allowed to teach.Only bone fide registered ski instructors are allowed to teach people to ski or snowboard on European Pistes, thus keeping lesson fees in house.

Paralells...

if these thai's are worried now wait till 2015 for ASEAN to kick in then the shit will really hit the fan with smarter people, operators from neighbouring member countries coming to thailand legally to work with there own and take many jobs from the thais, that i am sure will raise the blood pressure of a few of these complainants who come to this new office

If they don't like the way it is here, then go home. I don't get people that travel to another country because they don't like the way there home country is and then they try to change their new home to be like the one they just left.

Got it QM. Thanks.

Nonsense! Of course it can be done to satisfy work permit requirements.

The word "translate" is a big clue! What do you think English teachers are effectively?
