Beggars Arrested in Rayong

Rayong police have arrested beggars in Rayong market due to many local people complaining that they were annoying tourists.

RAYONG – December 19, 2013 [PDN]; at 11.00 a.m. journalists were informed that there were Cambodian beggars begging for money in Star Plaza market fair, Amphur Mueang, Rayong province so they went to inspect the scene and coordinated with Pol. Lt. Col. Manit Boonmalert (Deputy Superintendent of Rayong city police station) and Pol. Sub. Lt. Surom Kaewsai (Deputy Inspector) to arrest the alien baggars.

When the officers revealed themselves to arrest the baggers who pretended to be disabled they tried run away and bystanders were so surprised. The police arrested 1 mother with 3 children and 1 grandmother. They then went to inspect their rented room in Bon Kai community behind Star Plaza hotel.

Ms. Somjai Jaidee, aged 40, who is the vendor at the market, revealed that she always comes to sell goods at Star Plaza market fair every Monday and Thursday and she usually sees the alien beggars that are disable.They beg for money on the footpath which annoys her customers. The local people have complained about them and they want the related organizations come and arrest them.

Pol. Lt. Col. Manit said that the officers received complaints about the Cambodian beggars who beg at the market every Monday and Thursday which annoyed the tourists and local people so the officers went to investigate and found Mrs. Phalai, aged 40, together with her 3 children and the grandmother named Mrs. Nor, aged 89, all of them were from Cambodia.

After that the police went to inspect their rented room address 094/8 in Bon Kai community behind Star Plaza hotel were the arrested Cambodian beggars lived. However, the beggars didn’t have passports and work permits to work in Thailand therefore the officers prosecuted them and they will be deported back to their home land.
