The 51-year-old asked to leave Östragård prison to see a dentist, but when guards ignored his repeated requests he busted out.

A Swedish convict launched a daring jail break so he could be treated for toothache.

The desperate 51-year-old fled Östragård open prison in Vänersborg last month after guards ignored his repeated requests to see a dentist.

With an inflamed molar causing him untold amounts of grief, he sprinted out of the compound to a nearby town, The Local reports. He then tracked down a dental surgeon who quickly removed his painful tooth.

Cured of his ailment, he immediately handed himself over to cops who drove him back to the prison.

The man, who was serving a one-month stretch, was jailed for an extra day.

But he had no regrets about his breakout.

“I was all swollen in the face,” The Local reports him as saying. “I just couldn’t stand it anymore. … I’m still happy to have gotten rid of the toothache.”
