Pattaya people joined together to protest to recoup public land near Balihai cape after they found out that a group of capitalists were preparing to develop the area.

PATTAYA – November 28, 2013 [PDN]; at 9.30 a.m. there were the group of almost 100 people lead by Mr. Piya Piyamon, aged 57, who were protesting against the development of land at the seaside near Balihai cape, south Pattaya, Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province after there was a group of capitalists who want to develop the area which is for the benefit of the public but previously there was a certificate of ownership issued illegally which may cause Pattaya city to lose the land for public benefit.

Mr. Piya said that this land has a boundary line at the back that is contiguous with the Royal Thai Navy 5 radio mountain station and casted along the coast near Balihai cape from the port to the sea rescue center with the length of 200-300 meters, width 3-5 meters which is the land that is beneficial for people since 1998 then the capitalists asked for the title deed over this land which was the title deed no. 8309, land no. 1, survey page no.35409 that didn’t allow people to use the land.

Later, the people complained with the Office of The National Anti-Corruption Commission that the issuing of the title deed was the malfeasance until there was the impeachment with the government officers and referred people to Pattaya provincial court in the allegation of misbehaving to their governmental duty and positions. The court sentenced to imprison the related people by indicating that it was the issuing of title deed with malfeasance which the defendant asked to fight the lawsuit in the appeal court and now the case is under the court’s consideration that means this case has not yet ended . But during the past there were not any administration or local organizations came to superintend or conserve the land.

Until they were informed that a group of capitalists will come to develop the land the local people joined together to oppose because they were afraid that they will not be able to use this land anymore. The group of protestors which was leaded by Mr. Piya Piyamon also went to see Mr. Ronnakit Akasing (the Deputy Lord Mayor of Pattaya city) and Mr. Sakchai Taenghor (Banglamung sheriff) in order to submit a petition to ask them to inspect and superintend the land to prevent the problems occuring in the future.

Mr. Ronnakit Akasing (Deputy Lord Mayor of Pattaya city) said that this land is still in dispute and it is under the consideration of the appeal court therefore this land cannot be used for public benefit until the case has ended. From now on, he will send the officers to superintend the land and will coordinate with Amphur Banglamung to follow up for the progress of this case but he will not permit anybody to use this land during this period of time.
