It was reported that Bobby Kennedy with the support of JFK was going to tackle the Mafia  so i could never understand why Jack Ruby who was owner/manager of a small nightclub with links to the Mafia would want to kill Lee Harvey Oswald.

 

On an interesing documentary on BBC about the assassination (not about conspiracy) a person (i think in the Police) was quoted saying at the time:

 

" there is not a single police officer in Dallas who believes Jack Ruby killed the President's killer out of patriotic fervour"
