What's Your Pattaya Diet Like?

Recommended Posts

I know the appropriate answer is sex & beer but I'm curious poll-like if you dabble in mostly Thai/Issan foods or get your daily Fish & Chips?

I'm pretty comfortable sitting at Buakow market on a plastic stool eating next to motorbike taxi drivers for 30 baht as I am eating 3000 baht meals at Fuji Sushi.

I do admit giving my 'toot' a break once in awhile and having the salad bar at Sizzlers.

So what about you? Spicey Somtum or Pig & Whistle?

If I get up for breakfast which is rarely 2-3 times for the trip , i will have English Breakfast but all other Meals are Thai Food, after 2 weeks I start craving mashed potatoe so I might incorporate a falang meal every second day.

The only other Falang stuff is occasionaly I wil treat myself to a sundae in BIG C.

Kiss Cafe or Stone Oven Cafe , is where i'll have my Brunch most days.

Breakfast buffet at the Areca Lodge, a Whopper or a slice of pizza in the afternoon and in the evening a nice T-bone or a filet mignon. Sometimes a Thai dish for a change, but I am not that much into Thai food.

Thai food for me, not really fussy about where from, 20 baht food from street vendors tastes equally good with the one comes out of a posh restaurant.

If I fancy a fill-up, buffet in the Lek hotel will do, a good selection of both thai and farang food available for a cheap price. :07:

Thai food because I'm a cheap bastard... Have to fork out for immodium though.

Noodle soup on the street - lovely.

My stomach does need some stodge now and then - English breakfast or pizza.

'Fuji' does good stuff - Japanese chain... saki and raw fish.

If ya want the best thai food eat where the thais eat!

That about sums it up - the busy popular food carts are fairly safe and I use them regularly. When in LOS it is Thai food for me 95% - I can get that western stuff anywhere and anytime, but good Thai is much harder to find in the USA

Breakfast, either I get the free breakfast buffet in the hotel or it's Au Bon Pain. Lots of fruits b/c can't get it as fresh as I get it in NYC. Dinner, mostly seafood or local Thai flavor BTW, anyone has acquired the gourmet taste of Entomophagy aka insect eating??? :Brush_Teeth:

I eat better in LOS than I do at home. Plenty of fresh fruit, some rice

and chicken with vegetables plus the occasional trip to Zen or Fuji.

Sometimes I will splurge and have fresh fish at a proper restaurant.

I usually drop a few pounds while vacationing.

Very much like Thai food, so that will make up my majority of food intake, although the odd English Breakfast and KFC cant hurt too much. Also intend to eat lots of fruit whilst there.

For UK peeps who enjoy Thai food, you can get some authentic (although a lot is tinned) Thai food from http://www.thai4uk.com/ some of the curry pastes and sauces etc are very nice. They also import fresh Thai veg weekly;

Flown in directly from Thailand weekly. To ensure maximum freshness of these products: A) they are only available to order from 1pm Tuesday until 12am Thursday; B) we strongly recommend that you select 'Express - next day' delivery at the checkout.

My main diet in Thailand is Singha, but if I fancy something solid I'll go for the occasional meal from the Queen Vic, sometimes I'll get some of those kebabs from the street vendors, an occasional Noodle soup, and sometimes a cornish pasty from the pie shop on beach road near Soi 7. ^_^

Only thai food for me, but strangely I am not too hungry in LOS so I eat 1 or 2 times a day, with the occasional fresh peanuts or fruits (lamut ??spelling?? is especially good) or coconut in the afternoon to wait for my evening lunch. I do not know if it is the hot climate or all the boum boum that cut my appetite, but it is very good poum pouy wise - I loose at least 2 kilo in 2 weeks :-) Thai food is very good for loosing weight anyway, on the other side thai girls in farangland get thicker fast, I can tell you first hand :Chokdee3:

In the evening, street food, or the quasi street restaurant complex after TOPS (their fried chicken is very good ;-) ), or MK suki in big C. Did not try eating in TOPS yet, but I plan to go next time if they have panang kai or panag neua...

I was an adept of vientiane restaurant before, but I feel quality has gone down and price up since they moved to Walking Street, I tryed it a few times since they moved and last time I felt the ratio quality/price was low enough for me to not try it anymore....

Amazing that almost everyone says that they eat thai food most of the time.

That's not what i see in most of the cases when i see a farang eat in Patts.

For me it's 1 day thai, 1 day western (with bread) for the reason already named. :Constipated:

I always eat fish on Fridays !

Just bought myself a nice pice of monk fish from Tesco's and in Pattaya I usually go for Parrot fish from a restaurant called Au Bon Coin.

Thai food all the way for me. Don't bother with breakfast. Tend to eat fruit or noodles during the day with a main meal in the evening. Quite happy to eat at sidewalk vendors and rarely have a problem with the $h1ts. :)
