32 Day Holiday booked and no Visa - HELP

I only just realised - 10 days before flying - that I really needed a Tourist VISA given that exemptions are only 30 days.

What can I do? Apparently I should allow 3 months for a tourist visa so obviously there's not enough time to get one.

From reading the forums I know I can probably get a 7 day extension once I'm in Thailand but how do I get into Thailand in the first place?

I thought they only look at visa when u are already in Thailand ? ( I'm not sure )....

Or worst case just book a short trip some where else for cheap for a couple days and have that printed out .

Where are you located Z?

I have been to the Thai consulate in St Kilda Road Melbourne and got my tourist visa returned within a few days.

I'm sure the Thai consulate most capital cities can do the same for you.

Take a copy of your flight schedule etc.

If not go to Jomtien and get the extension there.

are the RULES different for aussies than yanks?

I get a visa upon entering at suvaboomboom airport, for 30 days I am pretty sure...

you can always run to cambodia during that time, and get a new visa on re-entering Thailand, yes?

No daddee, same RULES, 30 days on arrival.

Getting a Visa stamped in your passport allows you to stay 60 days, saves getting extensions once in Thailand or making trips out of the country.

Personally I don't like the thought of an overstay mark on my passport. I know people who have done it many times when it is only a few days, but I prefer to sort my visa before I travel or at worse get the extension at Soi 5 Jomtien.

clear...  so you can pop into an office in Jomtien, no pompen then!

or, perhaps a good excuse to go to Phnom Penh?  Or Angkor Wat maybe?  Have a great trip!

Thanks for the responses and I will go to Immigration to get an extension .... but what about getting into the country?

Option 1 - Put down <30 days length of stay on my immigration card (but are my flight details in their computer system? Will they know?)

Option 2 - Can I just put down 32 days as my length of stay and they'll still let me in?

I got my 60 day tourist visa from the Perth Thai consulate, and it took all of 20minutes before i was walking out the office with a visa in my passport......if you take the embassy/consulate option make sure you have the required paper work i.e. photo copy of your itinerary, and a passport size mug shot.......

The other option is get a 30 day visa stamp on arrival at the airport in Bangkok, just put 30 days stay on your arrival form, they won't question you on that..but i think if you put down 32 days they will say no hab tourist visa give 30 days only .......if you take the 30 day visa on arrival option you can then either pay  a 2 day overstay fine 1000baht on your departure.......or go get an extension at the Jomtien immigration.......enjoy your trip.......

You can get a 60 day visa in 2 days. Safer than being denied boarding your flight.

Just do it.

I have overstayed loads of times by 2-3 days

Do not worry about it

When you go to leave Thailand immigration will just charge you 500 baht for each day overstayed no big deal

There is no extension of a 30 day visa exemption stamp it will looked upon as if you are asking to overstay and I believe you get 7 days, but you may also get an overstay stamp in your passport. You can only legitimately extent a visa by 30 days, if using a tourist visa. I'd personally not do this, more below.

If you have an onward flight out of the kingdom you should be OK. You can be refused boarding the plane if you only have a one way ticket and arriving using the 30 day visa exemption.

I would recommend going online to find your nearest Thai consolute and calling them about a single entry tourist visa, I got my triple entry within a few days by going into the consulate (I live in the UK). OR do a land crossing border run before your 30 days are up to get a 14 day visa exemption stamp. Many border run companies in patts to Cambodia for about 2000 baht.

 Hi Guys

Quick question for you in the know

I am due back to Thailand this weekend, instead of next week, which was what i wanted

More work and more money and no over stay

As i am only leaving Thailand on the 7th Jan 2014

Due to that i am 2 days over due, i don't think it will be a problem, just pay the 1000 baht on exit, is that correct?

Or is it better to do down town and get a 7 day visa, to be on the safe side

I am the same as the other guy and have been told no problem,,,,  there are far worse over stayers than you and me i have been told

Please advise??

Kind regards

2 options:

1.cross the border and get a 15-day stamp during your last week of holiday.

2. ask tourist visa before you go!

A good girl gives you happiness and a bad girl gives you experience both are essential in life so enjoy every girlfriend!
