This scared the crap out of me because I just invested in some miles through US Airways for the double up promotion, then immediately got a ThePointsGuy news letter confirming this.  Rest assured, my inside guy told me that you should most likely be safe booking Star Alliance flights through the end of the year, and potentially all the way up to March. Good thing too, as I want to get back on EVA before the merger.
