Will they let her in?

I've done a google search and checked the UKBA website and neither has offered a definite answer to this.

Can my TGF enter the UK on a single 1 way ticket on a 6 month visitor visa?

Some say yes but they may ask for proof of funds to buy the return ticket, others say the visa officer won't let her in. (I'll be with her on the flight from Bangkok).

Does anyone have experience of this? I'd be keen to hear about it

(its complicated re; return flights).

With such a visa the goal is to satisify the authorities that she genuinely intends to return to Thailand after the visit. Therefore a return ticket, while not essential, will certainly be an asset. When my wife first came over she had a open return ticket so she could go home any time if things weren't working out. We never had any visa problems.

The answer is yes, a visitor can enter the UK on a valid visa without a return ticket, however...

This is subject to them satisfying the border agency they intend to leave the UK before the visa expires, the easiest way to do this is with a return or onward ticket.

Simply showing that they have the funds to purchase a return or onward tickets might not be enough, if the border agent does not believe they intend to leave the UK they will be refused entry.

So why take the risk, purchase a return ticket, if you are unsure about the return date, pay the extra for an open ended return, it will be one less thing for you you worry about and could save you a whole lot of time and hassle upon arrival.

Hi Guys, were written RULES are in place it does not mean they take any notice of them, from plenty of daily experience if you do not have a return ticket you are asking for a problem, funds or not.

We had a client contact us today who even after advice booked a 1 way ticket ad traveled with his partner to the UK, they raged her to one side and him also and interrogated her for 2 hours for the sake of a ticket

Do you want your partner to travel 12-14 hours and get all this rubbish at the other end???

My advice is always on a tourist visa have a return ticket

Thanks a lot for the advice guys, I've just booked return flights for her & 2 single tickets for me to go get her (the complication was -there was no airline that could get us on the same BKK -LHR for a reasonable price if I booked us both return flight deals)

Will PM you later Darren, I hope to have some more clothes etc for the homeless kids if you still take to do with that. Cheers.
