Hi, I am travelling to khon kaen in the new year and could do with renting a car while I am there.

Does anyone know of any rental companies?

Any help is much appreciated.

I used to use Budget fly to Khon Kaen and pick the car up at the airport.

New cars fully insured reasonable prices and good service.

Google the website and you will find it.

Just Google Khon Kaen car hire & take your pick. Or most hotels will sort you out with a local hire firm.

There are several rental shops around the Kosa hotel. Also there are a few bars opposite Kosa, some falang owned, you could try asking them for recommendations. Kosa is an excellent hotel too, btw.

try www.rentalcars.com

They are a UK site, but you can arrange to collect the car from Khon Kaen airport and return to same.

I have used the site a few times, and again at New Year.  Staying at Kosa too.  Good central hotel.

Also possible is Lek car rental in udon thani who will deliver and collect it kk at a small fee. Good prices that may compensate the fee

Ok nice one. As you come out of the Kosa main entrance turn left, there is another big hotel can't remember name it keeps changing. Anyway between the two hotels is a soi and there are at least two car rental shops there. They are independant Thai shops, not big chains like Budget or Hertz. Wife and I rented a Honda Jazz a few years back but cant remember name of the shop. Car was in good condition and fully insured.

Had good experiences with Thai Rent A Car with desk located at airport. Did some damage to a few of their cars in past (inevitable in Thailand with all the dogs running across the roads), their damage excess seems cheaper than others and can be claimed back on travel insurance.

Cars at the airport are an easy score but a bit more pricey.  If you are renting for longer than a week I would contact someone in town and work out a deal.
