Talking Thai

a tad expensive but it's the best there is. Superb piece of kit. Used to use it when I was teaching as it's a great ice breaker with the kids and they love using it. We used to play new vocab day on Friday where I'd get a few kids to teach me new words and I'd do likewise.

has Thai and English input as well as playable sound bite for each word.

Look for Visual Dictionary Thai in iBooks too. It's quite impressive.

I like the new Thai-English dictionary app from thai-language.com as well.

Downside is that at this point it's designed just for the iPhone and hasn't got all the functionality of the Talking Thai app.

Big plus is that it's free, it works on an iPad as well and has all the words (incl. sounds) and example sentences the website has. Which is a lot!

I haven't checked all the words :D but it seems more comprehensive than the Talking Thai app.

I used an iPhone app called itranslate, it was cheap.

Definitely get it or something similar.

I also used some thai English language tutor

audio books called learn thai - survival phrases.

But it wasn't cheap, but pretty good if you put

the time in.

That said I used the translator a lot because my Thai

is kindergarten level at best 5555

Talking Thai sounds just the ticket. The price is steep but I can live with it providing I can share the app on my other devices (iPod, Mac, etc).

Is that possible (via iTunes on same account) ?

Found a good one called "Learn Thai - Phrasebook", android though but I imagine on IOS as well. Its free, a lot of useful basic phrases, all examples are given in the feminine though but if you know about you just have to change the chan's to phom and ka's to kap.
