Police Bust a Burmese Prison Drug Dealing Gang

DSI joined with the narcotic control board to arrest a Burmese gang who were dealing drugs from inside prison, the officers found heroine, crystal meth, and meth, worth than 30 million baht.

BANGKOK – November 7, 2013[PDN]: the Department of Special Investigation ( DSI ), Mr. Tharit Pengdit, the director-general of the DSI announced the arrest of suspected drug traffickers. In addition to that they brought the Burmese suspected drug traffickers to be paraded at the press conference. Tharit said the DSI joined with Narcotics Prevention and Suppression of America to Thailand and the office of narcotic control board ONCB, to trap the drug dealers by using undercover officers to buy drugs from them. The sting operation took place and the dealers were arrested. The suspects were found with crystal meth, 7,000 meth tablets and 10 kilograms of heroin totalling a street value of over 30 million baht.

The 4 suspects, Mr.Sai Ong 34 years old, Mr.Sai Laung 26 years old, Mr.Pan Ong 46 years old and a Mr.Mong Aye 28 years old. The DSI were aware of the movements of the Burmese group from a former prisoner who had been in the gang. The gang operated with only Burmese nationals they produced and transferred the drugs to sell in Bangkok.
