Shinzon's hotel reviews from a TG photography perspective

Many of you know my thaigirl photos and I would say that one of the key to successfull shots is having a good homebase where you can get the optimum out of your camera and your girl. During my first years coming to Thailand I was always staying at the same hotels but after some trips I just realised that most of my photos looked the same. Different TGs but having the same background over and over again simply made my shots dull and boring. Nowadays I move around quite a lot just to get new photo opportunities and rarily stay more than 5 days in the same place.

Before I got into TG photography it was all about finding a cheap place near the action ie Walking Street. Now the location doesnt matter that much to me. Nightime I use motorbike taxi service a 60/80 Bath and is instead looking for hotels that have some personality. Good background doesnt have to be expensive but generally I prefer larger rooms and suites when I do my photoshoots and then you get better bang for the buck the further away you get from Walking Street. I lost Count of the number of hotels I been to in LOS but here are some of my experiences...

Galaxy suites

http://galaxysuitespattaya.com/

This was the first hotel I stayed at when coming to Pattaya for the first time. Less then 1000bath a night, clean nice rooms with a location on top of the Heaven Above agogo in soi Diamond which made this a perfect spot for doing numerous of STs every night.

The rooms can work when shooting your girl but the biggest disadvantage is that these rooms are extremely small. Just half a meter of space between the bed and the walls and then lightstands and flashes are impossible to move around. But everything in the room come in neutral colours so I have done a few decent shots here but dont expect much variation.

The 2nd one looks underexposed and out of focus ?

I know you are tight for room etc,but using 2 flashes will get rid of the shadows behind the models,or bounce the light of the walls or ceiling with your flash.

Changing backgrounds in photoshop is also very easy and creative.

P-e-n-t-h-o-u-s-e hotel

http://Spam URL Banned/

I used to be a regular at this hotel for many years.  The name of this hotel rather famous hotel in Pattaya was banned on PA some time ago. Not going into details but as I understand the hotel didnt appreciate that members expressed views openly on the board after staying there. So not to put any gazoline on the fire I will only talk about it from a strict TG photography point of view.

This hotel is both extremely good for shooting girls and really bad at the same time. The design is unique and you can really do some nice shoots here. The rooms comes in various sizes and prices and include numerous of stuff that you can use while shooting your girl. Teddybears, cats, stripper poles, jacuzzis, love swings etc.... its lika a candy shop for a photographer.

On the other hand, its really hard to shoot there becasue there are mirrors and flashing lights in all directions so you have to know what you are doing.

The major reason why I stopped staying there was simply that all my photoshoots started to look the same. I have probably shot like 30-40 girls and you will immediately spot the location once you see a photo. Unique to do with some girls but boring to do with all girls.

@Mind Serviced Residence

http://www.atmindgroup.com/

Last trip I rented a suite here for a couple of weeks just for the perfect photo opportunities it gave me. It is located just on the other side of second road opposite to Soi 6 and quite convenient even though its far from Walking Street. I need variation when shooting a girl and I want a place where I can do various of "scenes" even though hanging around in the same room. @Mind is perfect for just that. These shoots where done in a couple of hours in the suite and I guess most people wouldnt have a clue that its just one suite.

Secrets

http://secretspattaya.com/

My first "photoshoot" ever with a Thaigirl was in 2007 with a happy funny girl I had barfined from "Beavers". Back then I knew nothing about photography and just played around with my Point n shoot and had a good time with the girl. Nowadays it is not often I visit places like "Beavers" but I probably checked it out because it was just one of the gogobars you could find when walking out of soi 14.

Secrets has a really good location night time and the rooms are clean, cheap and quite spacy. It works for TG photography if you want a neutral background but that is about it.

Really old shots:

...KY and condoms in background...what was i thinking???

hotel Idyll (soon to be renamed as Eastin hotel Pattaya)

http://www.hotelidyll.net/

Is a modern colourful 4 star hotel in soi 7. I have stayed here several times and the colourful walls and modern interior makes its very nice for photoshoots. Lots of space around the bed when setting up lightstands and perfect to move around to get the right angle. It has almost no windows and can be a bit dark to stay in. The bathroom is unfortunately a glas cage which are problematic when using flash and its easy that the wrong things mirrors back into the photos. Too bad that soi 7/8 has gone so much downhill the last years otherwise this would be a perfect spot for those of you that prefer beerbars before gogos. I have done several photoshoots here including a couple of nice ones with the CreamPieThai stars Eaw and Sala.

LK Royal Wing

http://www.lkpattaya.com/royalwing/

I really like the LK hotels in Pattaya. Probably been to half of them and never been disappointed with my stay there. They are kind of pricy during the high season but its easy to get special deals when Pattaya is not that crowded. The Royal wing is abit off in an alley far down in soi Buakow but the rooms are really big and that is perfect for me. Large luxurious furnetures and with a "Royal" touch to the design but still modern. The only thing I have a problem with here is the bed simply because it is extremely shiny and its surfaces on the head board is like shooting into a mirror. That ruins lots of photos when using flash!

LK Royal Wing-3.jpg LK Royal Wing-4.jpg LK Royal wing-6.jpg

I always like when there is a clean white wall in the room. Those are perfect to use for "studio-look-a-like shots".

Nova Gold

http://www.mosaic-collection.com/novagold/

I remember hesitating booking this hotel the first time due to its location, but after renting a motorbike it was a very good place to stay. Lowseason you can get it dirt cheap due to being far from WS but it certainly has a good style when shooting girls.

Siam Bayshore

http://www.siamhotels.com/siambayshore/default-en.html

This is an excellent hotel for TG photography with endless possibilities. Its actually a huge hotel area with several buildings and gardens between the sea and second road. It is located quite convenient at the end of Walking Street but in a less busy area. I would describe this as old school top hotel which was probably one of the best you could stay at during the 80s. It doesnt have a modern style but the rooms are in good shape.

Seame spring hotel

http://www.seamespringhotel.com/

Soi 10 has been under renovation the last couple of years and now there are several hotels there worth checking out. Seame has a modern style and excellent location. Its not as fancy as it looks from the outside and in the large open lobby but the rooms are good for photography. Large room and plenty of modern furnuture to move around. There is a gray wall that can easily be used for studio look alike shots. I definitley remember a couple of photoshoots I did with famous Creampiethai/Asiansuckdolls/Thaigirlswild star Eaw. One time she turned up at my doorstep at 7.00 am after partying in Insomnia/JP bar and we had a 4h photoshoot.

It's very gawdy and OTT, but don't you ever fancy the challenge of Full Love Inn for a couple of hours?
