funny noises

Hi guys

I have noticed that over the past few weeks a strange CONTINIOUS noise has been coming out of my computer.Best way to describe it is similiar to a subdued quieter engaged tone on a telephone!I do not use my computer for any phone calls/link ups!

Whilst it appears not to be having any detremental effect on my computer it is getting on my tits at times and I wonder if anybody out there has any information as to it's cause/cure! Thanks

sounds like your com is messing up...

 

from my personal experience funny sound is never good....

 

worst case is you would have to format the whole com..( no big deal unless you got loads of porn you didnt backed up yet.. )

best case?.. i have no idea.. virus in your com maybe?...good luck..

Could be the cpu cooling fan... known for getting clogged up with dust and emmiting funny noises. I would think worse case senario is your hard disk could be on its way out. Failing that perhaps for some reason your pc speaker is faulty (I dont mean your pc speakers i mean the internal buzzer)

 

If it was me i'd whip the case off while it is running and pinpoint the location of the noise but please if you don't know what you are doing please don't do this as there are some seriously high voltages in there. After all I do have a deathwish and my name is InternationalHardman!

 

If only there was a TukCom on every street corner!

I thank you for your attempted assistance however I am an utter novice on computers and really have no idea just what "Format the whole com" even means! Any further help appreciated! Not got loads of porn incidently!

Don't open the PC cover unless you are earthed, you can fry the hard drive if you touch it with enough static on you!

Have you got any friends that have a good knowledge of computers? Is it under any kind of warranty? You may have to get it looked at professionally.

Upon suggestion by members I saw that the fan outlet was indeed filthy and coated with rubbish,so I simply vacuumed around it and lo & behold noises disappeared.So fingers crossed and thanks again guys!

Yeah, computers have a magical dust magnet embedded. But like you said, a vacuum cleaner does the job
