Motorcycle trip around Isaan

I've had an itch to do backroads Isaan for awhile now. Do any of the larger towns in Isaan (Udon/Ubon/Khorat) have good rental companies to deal with on a 250cc bike for a week or two?

Kerivaran1000,

I am currently in Khon Kaen and have rented a (125cc) from "Narugee Carrent" - call KUNG on:081-7296139 - they might have bigger bikes as well. You can also try: [email protected]; they have bigger bikes.

Otherwise just try to Google the Town and see if a Motorbike Rntal comes up.

A good way is also the local TAT Office in the respective towns..... Good Luck.

I would think there are better routes than Issan, likely to be very hot and very boring. Try the ride from Pattaya to Koh Chang, about 4 hours to the pier. The roads on Koh Chang are quite a challenge, anything but boring. I have over 40,000 km on my Honda. Once I encountered a Thai motorcycle gang at a stop light on my way back to Pattaya. You meet the nicest people on a Honda.

Thank you for the replies. Of course there is always a higher risk with motorcycling. After cruising around the south a bit on a scooter I am hooked, however. Something about rubber trees whipping by, wind in your face, freedom. Can't beat it. Having been through Isaan a few times by train/bus I think a motorcycle would be the ideal method for encountering the random nuggets around backwoods bends that make Thailand special.

I think there's a big bike rental place in udon. Don't know if they have 250s.
Great roads around Loei.
Best riding in Thailand is in the north of course and so Chiang mai has about ten big bike rental shops with plenty of 250s.
Sounds like fun have a great time. Drive safe.
PS some of the ones in Chiang mai rent safety gear too. Jackets pants etc

Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
